I bought a 2070 Super for 489 dollars that i’ll be lucky to get $200 for if I wanted to sell it. If the $300 RTX 3060 is better than a 2080 and with better Ray Tracing, i’m fucked.

Its hard to compete against a company that builds workstation and server farm gpus then tunes the rejected silicon into gaming gpus.

I'm not angry. I've already met a guy who's gonna sell me his RTX 2080 Super for ~$300. I was originally gonna go for a 2060 KO, which is also $300, but God damn if this isn't a good deal. I bought a Ryzen 3300x to tide me over until Ryzen 4000 launches, then I'm getting a 4600. I should be good for 4-5 years minimum, maybe longer. By the time I upgrade, DDR5, Ryzen 9000, and RTX 5000 will be out, so I'll get a pretty large performance jump by buying a secondhand RTX 4000 card.

Those who bought the more expensive lineup generally planned to flip them on ebay, recouping most of their value (as Nvidia cards tend to hold price used) as a means to upgrade. The ampere pricing absolutely guts that. Hell the 2080ti effectively had 700 burgers cut from its value overnight.

AMD could easily fix all it's driver issues if they made their drivers open source, yet they refuse to do so.

Nobody will make their drivers open source as the companies believe - rightly or wrongly - it contains a lot of their trade secrets.

Miners are the ones who got really hosed on this one. They usually buy the GPUs then when they're about to die, they go ebay that shit and get the next iteration so they could mine better with little overhead, at the expense of gullible poorfags wanting to buy last gen GPUs for (sometimes slightly) less. Like you said, ampere destroyed the value of "preowned" turings and now miners are stuck with unsellable, almost dead GPUs and would have to spend significantly more to even continue mining. GPU manufacturers need to keep doing this or at the very least get the miners to go AMD so they get the cheapo GPUs with good mining but below optimal at games and leave NVIDIA to actual gamers. With AMD just rehashing with more RAM, this might be what's going to happen. AMD pandering to miners and poorfags while leaving NVIDIA to PC gaming elites.
