Alright the reason people don't like modern Simpsons is because they got the nineties nostalgia goggles on, a time before smart phones and flat screen televisions. They won't accept that times change and characters evolve in ways they don't expect thus calling the characters flanderized while really they transcended in their true form

I remember I would still regularly watch it even after I noticed the quality went drastically downhill, because at least some of the bad episodes still had a funny joke or two. The episode where the family goes to Brazil is the first episode I distinctly remember not laughing at once.
