I was also scared of Dorrie in Mario 64 because the sign right outside the pond tells you that he'll fucking eat you. So I kept trying to figure out a way to get to the island without going near him. It wasn't until I read a game guide at a Target that I found out that not only is Dorrie friendly, but you're supposed to use him to get the star. This change is one of the stupidest complaints Zig Forums has because the updated model is far more clear, visually.
