So why are LMGs under appreciated in games?

disgusting remnant of the toxic masculinity that has plagued video games for far too long
They slow you down too much in most games, and the reload time is usually awfully long. There are some exceptions though. The negev in csgo is fun to use because it basically turns into a laser gun after a few shots. The M1917 in Battlefield 1 is god tier.
>slow to move with
>slow to reload
>slow to sight up
>encourages camping to utilize
Shootan games aren't made to be played slow. Either run and gun with an SMG or 360 noscope sniper faggotry or fuck off to another genre.
The way games are balanced, most LMGs are just assault rifles with a big clip that do slightly less damage.
They’re rarely made to be particularly fun
Muh balance
>Game has bullet penetration
>Shred people in cover with LMGs
In the more popular arcade games like cod, battlefield etc. it's just like an assault rifle but it's slower to move around with, has usually more recoil, slower ads speed, lower hip fire accuracy and maybe even lower damage, with the only positive being a higher capacity belt/magazine.
They are made as "pressure weapons" in real life pretty much, like MG nests but portable, but since games dont give a fuck about MG nests even if portable, they are ignored. That and you would crawl with them.
They're usually just fat assault rifles because the real-world benefit of them can't be translated well to video games.
Because in reality AR are single/burst weapons with a unused capability for automatic fire and LMGs are the ones that go auto. In most games ARs are the weapons of automatic fire using intermediate cartridges, taking the role LMGs occupy IRL
they work in simulators like arma for sure
>50bmg headshot from a machinegun
>like 50% damage
>50bmg bodyshot from a sniper rifle
>instant kill across the map
Same reason shotguns are shit. muh balance
I bet you're one of the fags who snipes people with the telescopic variant.
In many games shotguns are okay though.
Because games don't simulate weight and exhaustion accurately. Any light machine gun would be useless to a single soldier. Those weapons are designed to be used for zone fire, not point fire. 5-10 round bursts at a location, not a person. If the shooter can keep a 15" group at 100m he's doing his job, which is to keep the enemy from shooting at him or his squad mates. If he kills the opponent it's a bonus but never expected. Belt fed guns are not close quarter weapons that is why the weight is largely irrelevant. The shooter is meant to either shoot it from a prone or otherwise supported position, not from the shoulder. Yes, the 249 is the exception but it has the drawbacks of both platforms; it's much heavier than any carbine, can't swap the barrel so sustained fire is out of the question and it's very difficult to shoot from an unsupported position.
lol
No one knows how to use them correctly.
Cover firing in FPS don't work.
There's something about the ammo chain that's extremely aesthetic
You mean cringe because they look dumb as shit
>light machineguns
>they're heavy and bulky as fuck
>machineguns
>they're light and agile
In army anything named "light" or "portable" means it will destroy your back, knees and will to live
The m249 has does have quick change barrels, and can absolutely be used for sustained fire.
Not just that but also use them sweet ir scopes to see you anywhere on the map. See you on the battlefield
>reload time is awfully long
i bet you're one of those fags who fires 10 bullets out of your 200 sized box and then immediately has to reload
Because at small ranges most often encountered in games, you're way more likely to get caught with your pants down during a lengthy reload of a belt-fed LMG than during a quick reload of an AR or an SMG.
>game has visible bullet belt like this
>99% of the time, the primers already have firing pin marks on them
Red Orchestra/Rising Storm did it right.
Well they mainly just focus on making youtube content.
What does Linus Media Group have to do with videogames?
They're OP as fuck in The Division 2.
>Get more accurate the longer you fire, and makes enemies cower behind cover
Pretty much the best solo weapon.
>fires 10 bullets out of your 200 sized box and then immediately has to reload
They are pretty good in wasteland 3
In PAYDAY2 I use LMGs almost exclusively.

Why do you think i mentioned the close quarters scenario? The SAW is a bastard child without a purpose. It's like an NCO recommending an m16 and a couple beta mags to the gunner because he doesn't want to haul around a 240.
They only work in realistic games like Squad/Post scriptum and red orchestra to some degree.
My stealth build was dodge based with a "silent" LMG, people hated it
Did it actually work well?
Knight's LAMG would be op.
Wouldn't the real underrated weapons be marksmen rifles
>grab LMG
>throw a bipod and a decent optic on it
>find a spot with nice sight lines
>become death
I love em
>Shootan games aren't made to be played slow.
Look at this retarded CoD kiddie that wan'ts more FAST FAST FAST sci fi trash
>Pretty much the best solo weapon.
>he doesn't use rifles and just run around one shotting enemies with 10 million damage crits
If you go to /codg/ people are ass mad MW 2019 slowed things down because muh campers
people who cry about campers are also the same people who sprint around the same blind corner and die every time. If a camper gets you more than once, you are the problem.
