They really fucked up by not having New Game Plus with stronger enemies. I remember having Aqua do crazy ass magic that could stop time to dash around attacking enemies and summon meteorites, but I could only use those moves in the keyblade graveyard. Enemies were too weak everywhere else.

Best climax in the series, just back to back boss fights all of which are highly personal for the characters involved.

It doesn't suffer from KH3's climax where Sora and Pals(TVA included kek) walk blindly and stupidly into an lopsided ambush because Yen Sin says so, Aqua, Terra, and Ventus find themselves at the Keyblade Graveyard out of tragedy and desperation.

There's a lot of great moments, like Xehanort actually REEing like a brat for the first time in the series because he can't comprehend how Terra STILL won't give up after being so throughly played by him and having his body and heart corroded by DARKNESS, Ventus using the D-link mechanic to defeat the one he is d-linking with, Braig showing up and foreshadowing a bunch of stuff as per usual, Aqua and Terranort and Dismiss, but I think the best moment is Aqua and Mickey vs Venitus, and the soundtrack of "The Key" which is just this somber somewhat calming piece to highlight just how fucking screwed the universe is if they lose the fight against Venitus and the X-Blade.

Aqua using her wayfinder and magic to destroy the x-blade instead of her keyblade is a nice touch

Psst just abuse command boards you can have the crazy stuff early game(admittedly, not Ghost Drive but Ghost Drive is just really fun to use it has good damage but actually has less invincibility frames and mobility options that Aqua's normal cartwheel despite its whole *teleports behind you* gimmick)

Yeah the finale was great. Playing as lingering will and piecing together the puzzle as a kid was amazing. It also didn't shy about fucking everyone over.

It was fun and somehow packed a full-on Greek tragedy of a story in an E10+ game.

i was extremely excited for this. after all, it was the realization of that incredible secret movie from kh2. ultimately i was satisfied by bbs of only because the last bit of the game felt like it met my expectations, and that's what i was really interested in anyway. who are these characters? what are their goals? what exactly is going on here? will the boss fights be fun? the answers to these questions were good enough to satisfy. at the time i wasn't aware of all of the minutia of kh2 combat and didn't hold it in any special light. playing bbs, you could feel something was off even without mechanical knowledge. the hitstun the enemies took wasn't quite right. terra was dogshit to play. a lot more bullshit deaths occurred than usual. ultimately all of this sourness went away when the final act was as good as it was.
that's a constant in any kh game. despite the mediocrity that may exist in the first 80%, that last 20% is often entertaining and worth the effort.

I think that's what made KH1 and 2 so great. In 1 it was your first game so you weren't expecting a finale and enjoying it all the way through as an adventure. In 2 you were expecting a climax but the inbetween was so fun, a lot thanks to fighting the org members, that you were genuinely excited. 3 was dogshit up until the end which felt tacked on.

The gameplay is a bit janky, especially nowadays, and the grind for some stuff if you want to 100% is ungodly, but it's still, unironically, the game with my favourite story and version of Dearly Beloved.
The boss fights for the endings and Final + Secret episodes were also pretty damn fun.
