With the confirmation of a sequel, what do you hope to see in a Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film?

Basically this, my biggest problem with the movie was the lack of classic sonic elements.
It would be cool if they pulled a hunt for the chaos emeralds against eggman through multiple dimensions and maybe metal sonic.

It would be fun if it had roboticization haha.

I hope they do a better job designing levels around sonics speed. I feel like there aren't very many levels that embrace it, and labyrinth zone can eat shit.

So I'm assuming that as his sanity crumbles, he'll forget ever being called Robotnik and embrace Dr. Eggman as his only name, thus keeping in line with Sega's insistence that Eggman is the only name he has.

Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Metal Sonic in the same movie and I also have a good excuse for all this cramming together

Tails and Sonic return to their homeworld and travel between it and our world to gather the Chaos Emeralds (receiving assistance from Amy in the meanwhile in their world), while Knuckles has been fooled by Eggman in giving the Master Emerald away and helping him gather data to create a robot to top Sonic, that being Metal. The only thing that needs to be left answered is how does time pass in Sonic's homeworld compared to ours and how did Eggman get there. Since I think Rings are a natural object that can be created by nature in the Sonic universe, Eggman might have found one and collected it to get back to his homeworld, THEN after understanding their way to work he could have stolen one or two from Sonic or Tails to travel to his homeworld.

The final conflict will be with Team Sonic (and Amy) fighting against Eggman and Metal, with Sonic either going solo on Eggman as Super Sonic with the Emeralds while the others distract Metal or a full-fledged 4v2 battle, effectively giving the sequel enough closure to the classic games that they could just jump straightforward to the Adventure era if they do a third one. Maybe if James Mardsen wants to leave after the sequel is done we can give him and Sonic a more natural closure. And then if they want to do a third one, post-credits scene should be implying either something with Chaos or Shadow.

I forgot to mention, Master Emerald would be brought into our world by Eggman to use as an endless energy source to make him look like he's the second coming of all mathematics and big brains to the world that didn't even know he existed. And to power Metal Sonic too, to a certain degree so he could kick Sonic's ass for good by making him the antithesis to all Sonic cares for.

Off the top of my head: do a story about Sonic meeting Tails and Knuckles, and either sideline or write out Tom and Maddie. Go back to the fantasy world for a bit. Set up for Chaos in the third movie.
If Carrey gets "cancelled" or something then hire Mike Pollock to play Eggman.

They kick him out because he's eating them out of house and home (since A: he is a teenager and B: he burns calories like crazy), and at the end of the movie Tom feels bad about it and takes the San Francisco job because the bigger paycheck can cover Sonic's food budget. And then Maddie decides to take Tails in too and he's like "WHAT THE FU-"
