The rumors have been swelling more and more lately. Will they turn out to be true? Will a Switch Pro come? Will it be revealed and released in 2021? What games will it have? What will the price be? How powerful will it be? How will the power be added to it? Will it be a home console only, or will it also be able to go portable?
>Will it be a home console only how stupid are you
Tyler Barnes
>has already made a handheld only version How stupid are you?
Michael Howard
>Hello shareholders, we would like to put a few hundred million into making a new cons- >Shut the fuck up and sell more Animal Crossing.
But yeah it has to happen at some point. Just not sure when or why.
Jackson Russell
Same hybrid model. It can output to 4K but most games are 1440 and 1080. Same deal as last gen upgrades, the games are cross compatible with it and the older Switch.
Easton Brown
>Will a Switch Pro come? Probably >Will it be revealed and released in 2021? Maybe >What games will it have? The big push will be Zelda Switch being 60fps as well as Breath of the Wild being upgraded to 60fps. Tidings on the Doom Eternal port have gone dark; so, it is possibly being held as a hardware showpiece, though it could just be the focus of the next partner showcase this month. Bayonetta 3 will probably show up next year as another impressive looking game at 60fps and we will likely also see our first look at Metroid Prime 4. Also, Monster Hunter on Switch, the new Monolith game and the new Mario Kart EPD game. Other likely games to see or release next year like No More Heroes 3, Bravely Default 2, New Kirby, Pokemon Snap and whatever else Pokemon shovelware, something Splatoon and Rune Factory 5 won't be associated specifically with the Pro due to not being big technical showpieces. And idk what is going on with the next Mario game since nothing was shown in the Mario Direct. >What will the price be? 40 000円 >How powerful will it be? 5 >How will the power be added to it? I don't follow Nvidia news, because of their continuous poor Linux support. But, the expected chipset is Ampere right? and with DLSS >Will it be a home console only, or will it also be able to go portable? Who knows?
Jace Bell
If I can't easily bounce my saves between 2 switches, one for portable use, then I don't see much reason to get it. Plus games like AC and Splatoon don't support cloud saves.
I’m sure the shareholders would be happy to hear they’re interested in making a console that will be closer to the PS4 and PS5 but still be portable. More games able to be on it means more money and more console sales.
Noah Rodriguez
This is honestly most likely what will happen and I’d pretty much be fine with it. So long as it means more and better 3rd party support.
Ethan Richardson
>40 000円 English nigga. What will the price be in the US?
Nathan Morris
Its been on google images for a couple yeara now
Dominic Rivera
Bump
Jonathan Johnson
home console shipped with a pro controller, I have no need for this portable bullshit and it takes up way too much space when docked
Oliver Wilson
This. Just give me a stronger home-only switch.
Grayson Davis
nintendo shareholders have only been interested in mobileshit for like 10 years. hell most shareholders of any vidya company only care about phones and would probably greatly prefer everyone stop wasting so much money on hardware R&D
Jackson Russell
outside of the 3DS Nintendo seems to trend towards making its system refreshes have the same amount of computing power >The Micro and the SP couldn't do anything the GBA couldn't >The Lite couldn't do anything the DS couldn't and I'm not confident the DSI was actually an improvement >The 3DS got the new 3DS but also go the 2DS so it could wing both ways >The Wii got two refreshes and both were cheaper with fewer features who knows if we'll even get another system refresh at all. they got one early out of the way with the Switch
Jeremiah Reed
I have a feeling this one will be stronger due to the new 3DS. That really marked a change for them.
Christopher Scott
500 claps.
Adam Wood
I was skeptical but if they can give the hardware a modest upgrade and actually implement DLSS we really might get 1440p or even 4k. DLSS is black magic.
Matthew Cook
Why would they? Shit is still dold out everywhere
Jack Sanders
Yikes
Colton Morris
>backwards B It's an ugly render regardless, but I think the image is just flipped. All the other letters are symmetrical so it's not noticeable.
Aiden Thomas
That’s exactly why they’ll make a new one. Don’t restock the old version and release the new one that will attract even more third party devs to release their games on it.
Jordan Brooks
I'm expecting 2022. They better not fuck it up like the WiiU or New 3DS.
Nicholas Taylor
I can see them making a Switch 2 since the thing is popular, if they can get backwards compatibility, a much better ARM SoC, perhaps a bump in resolution, maybe the same ARM SoC is more power efficient than their current Tegra on the base Switch, they could pull a decent successor that keeps the same Switching philosophy, the issue is that slapping an Ampere based SoC on the S2 wouldn't be exactly cheap I guess, it could be hard to do the above mentioned things and still sell it for just 300 bucks
Matthew Edwards
is ni no kuni good?
Brayden Green

GPU powered dock with GPU-via-thunderbolt, as were the original specifications of the Switch before it was downgraded to a shitty Nvidia Shield 2 tablet
Base tablet won't be much more powerful, probably equivalent to current docked mode. Battery constraints are still very real. But docked performance, the sky will be the limit. I'm expecting at least a 3TF GPU if Nintendo is readying 4K support in their games
Ryan Edwards
That's about $380, you can Google it you retard
Lucas Russell
The DSi was also a hardware upgrade. Those are the last two handhelds by Nintendo, so they are a better precedent to follow.
There is also an obvious upgrade path for the handheld mode of the Switch: simply make it as powerful as the docked version on the current model. It likely wouldn't even require having to retool existing games to take advantage of the additional power.
Christian Clark
it's has nice art direction and environments but the battle system sucks
Benjamin Reed
We already know they're working on a home console version though, calcio.
Luis White
The Switch has a between a rock and a hard place situation, they cannot do this turbodock shit because that's going to trivialize the mobility aspect. If you give it some extremely good hardware dock, won't developers start making games targeting that dock's specs? It will be a new SKU, it will end up like a PS4Pro versus base PS4, where you have sub 30FPS really junk performance of newer games on the base PS4 because developers are targeting PS4Pro and Xbox One X hardware and they just make it so the base spec console folk get fucked.
In order to keep the docking, and also playing on the go aspect of the Switch, they have to release one with a more powerful ARM SoC, or else you'll end with undocked performance going 240p 20fps cause everyone will just target the turbodock specs.
Levi Walker
Yeah that's the thing. You can't follow precedent for one because it's both. The last two home consoles were the Wii and the Wii U. The Wii got worse new versions and the Wii U afaik only got a new color. That's it. You're right about the 3DS getting more powerful models of course.
Personally I consider the DSi a downgrade. From what i can tell there weren't any DSI exclusive or enhanced games and you traded the ability to play GBA games for the ability to play garbage shovelware games and have the worst camera in the world, but that's just my opinion
Hudson Torres
My personal theory is that Nintendo's at least toyed with the idea of a pro/home-only Switch variant, probably introduce it at the current Switch price point and slightly discount the regular Switch, but then the regular Switch continued to sell gangbusters even now, so they see no need for any new models or discounts.
Tyler Gonzalez
What I'm waiting for is a portable that can run xenoblade 2 but not like shit
Lincoln Davis
Same thing, higher specs. I don't see them coming off the Switch brand and approach this gen.
Hudson Nelson
A pro model will really only happen if the third parties want or need it, to Nintendo its just a waste of development, but if games like Witcher 3 are really selling that well they might as well. I'm sure Nvidia will give them a good price on the Orion chip considering they want to kill Maxwell for good, and they have a 2 decade long deal in effect.
Jace Young
I don't think you've ever developed software for multiple machines before. No reasonable developer will make the game run like shit on the hardware that makes up 90% of the user base.
Camden Peterson
Scalable performance is something PC gamers have known for decades. It's the standard, not the exception. Remarkably easy to dial back settings with modern engines to best maintain framerates at the least expense of resolution.
This isn't going to increase the bar for the lower end, it's just going to allow for higher resolutions and less dialed back settings.
The *real* problem is the lack of the instantaneous "switch". You won't be able to just lift the Switch out of its cradle if it's processing on a docked GPU, unless it was simultaneously shadowing it with its own internal GPU.. You'd also presumably need memory transfers, so when you cradle it, you won't be playing on TV instantaneously, it'll take several seconds.
I'd easily give up quick dockability for increased performance though
A much more powerful built in SoC would require a more extensive cooling solution than can be built into a tablet. Perhaps the dock could facilitate this by having it blow refrigerated air into the system...
Asher Turner
is it a waste I want to play the next Zelda in 1080p, not 900p
