Bout to start this shit show. Any tips?

It's a grand adventure. Some would call it the grandest. Endurance matters more than skill.
Play SOTFS instead if you aren't. And be prepared for for absolute, utter kino. It's the best game FromSoft has made and probably ever will make.
have fun, embrace the jank
based, this should prepare you for Code Vein, the actual best souls game ever created.
test
Yeah, uninstall that shit and play a better game
Levl adp
I bough it 2 years ago.
I have finished DeS/1/3/BB and Sekiro
Before detractors try to derail thread with their DaS 1 is better cope. Enjoy the game, user.
>Real variety in area design.
>By far the most enjoyable PvP component.
>Doesn't rely on nostalgia like the first game, stands on its own as the superior title.
>Only game in the series to include rewards that incentivize challenge runs such as no-death and no-bonfire game completion.
>Majula's theme is more memorable than Firelink's.
>Most diverse and impactful covenants, further helped by the solid core design of the PvP component.
>You're actually rewarded for not relying on a shield due to the addition of power stance.
>Skippable startup logos.
>Rolling through weaker doors.
>Noticable delay on parry frames.
>Ultra weapons unparriable when 2-handed.
>You don't start out with being invulnerable during the majority of your roll, you need to get accustomed to the timings or die before you have a chance to widen the window.
>Full dual wielding support.
>Item level and infusion is now seperate.
>Opened up more ring slots for additional build variety.
>Has the largest pool of weapons, shields, armors, rings, general equipment, sorceries, pyromancies, miracles, hexes, bosses, NPCs, mobs, covenants, areas, soundtracks, consumables, hidden items, you name it.
>Optimized well, so it can run flawlessly even on dated hardware, in stark contrast to the first game that had to rely on community fixes to be playable on PC.
>NG+ has a lot more meaningful changes compared to the other installments.
>Most bang for your buck, longest game by far.
>Because the game is so open from the very beginning you're able to create a multitude of fun PvP builds in quick succession without having to resort to Cheat Engine to try out different builds.
>Guardbreak immediately opens up for a riposte counter.
>Best Poise system, there where meaningful changes between being naked and sacrificing stats to don heavier armor, especially at the meta PvP level ranges.

actual answer: exhaust all npc dialogue, always
Don't forget to kill all your NPCs including Maiden in Green.
Don't play it if you don't want to, especially when you're already mentally convinced you're going to hate it.
"Because I have to", "because I played the other Souls games", "because my backlog", "because my favorite youtuber told me to"; nothing of that justifies wasting dozens of hours with a game you will hate. Instead, sped your time playing something you genuinely want to play or something you will enjoy.
tl;dr don't play Dark Souls 2 if you don't want to.
>Still more popular on Steam than 1, even after the first game got a remake in 2018, despite 2 being released 4 years prior.
>Isn't an infinite stamina rollspammingfest like the third game.
>Offers unlimited respecs, the third has a hard limit per NG and in the first installment you can't, at all.
>Unlike the first game you're allowed to choose when to start your NG+ after defeating the last boss.
>Bonfire ascetics allow difficulty manipulation no matter what NG you're on.
>Arguably the most unbiased invasion system, gank-squads are not prohibited but skilled invaders can still wipe entire teams consistently.
>2 hit stun limit in PvP.
>Because of the variety and quantity of gear, fashion souls in 2 is leagues above the other games.
>Able to invade after areas have been cleared.
>Best DLC locations.

R*ddit.
Level up ADP a bit, it makes you more invincible when you roll. Your rolling eats a lot of stamina and you’re slower at low stamina.
Getting used to how stiff it feels with all of the above is why the start of the game is the hardest. Realize your character’s shortcomings in DS2 and it becomes the easiest.
Prepare for an experience that will blow every one of those games out of the water. BloodBorne is almost on par with it, but cinematic 24fps holds it back. Every other FromSoft game is markedly worse than DS2/BB
It's a fun time, ignore Zig Forums
I bough SOTFS 2 years ago and played for 5 hours.
I have finished 1/3/BB/Sekiro and DeS
Don't bother then. If you didn't like it then you won't like it now. Especially after going through the fast combat of Sekiro and Bloodborne.
agility and vitality are your best friends. be lightweight~
I played 3 the most i have like 600 hours
If you use a dex weapon like the rapier, buy 2-3 of them because they lose durability so fast that you'll need multiple ones to clear out the larger areas without revisiting a bonfire. There are unlimited titanite shards of each type (and unlimited titanite slabs), so you can fully upgrade however many items you need.
No I'll go Quality
> He liked 3
> enough to play 600 hours
OP, you might be mentally damaged.
Has fun pvp
Every build works in DaS2 so don't overthink it.
try to be in human form whenever you can, so you dont miss important quest stuff
Definitively don't bother then.
The people saying that it is the best Souls-like or the people who posts this copypasta are people who loathe the game and are playing reverse psychology.
Dark Souls 2 is two steps forward and one step back: very rich on gameplay mechanics, maybe more than any other game on the series but it's held back due to poorly designed enemy encounters and bosses. The mobs are lame compared to the ones on the games before and after and Nashandra is easily the worst final boss on the trilogy (maybe the series but I haven't finished Demon's Souls yet; I just started the Valley of Defilement).
Some of the areas are poorly designed (everything about the shaded woods) and the game looks extremely ugly at times, even the Scholar version.
The combat is nowhere as fast as Dark Souls 3's, being a middle ground between Demon's (what I've played so far) and Dark, besides the absence of poise.
Also, as I already said: if you're already mentally convinced that you won't enjoy the game, you won't.
if you've played either of the other games you already know what to expect. its just more of the same
This is surprisingly important.
>copypasta
nigger i dare you to find more than 2 instances of this in the archives. i typed this out in a notepad because I love the second game and am tired of people like you trying to argue that 1 is better through the thickest nostalgia-glasses available. This is the last (you) you will get from me.
think I'm gonna go for another run bros, what build do I go for?
Belmont. Get old whip from the crows, lots of daggers and some faith magic. Put on the OST for belmont's revenge.
old whip is bugged and breaks in like 20 hits
That's probably 5 more than you'll need. It's strong.
Get Agility to 96 to unfuck your roll.

Have more than one weapon on you because everything breaks fast as shit in this game. Doesn't help that there's loads of enemies in every level. Also strike weapons are good for the whole game so keep one on you like the Mace
Yes and make sure you suck a cock at least once every 15 minutes. Unwritten rule for Mace/Club players.
