It's weird that a medium so young produces so much money, but it does blend most other mediums.
With a single video game you can break it off into
>An art book
>An album
>A novel (if story driven)
and games weave together mediums through the uniqueness of being interactive. Games that focus too much on other mediums ultimately suffer for not showing off what makes them special, which is gameplay.
It's why people are still talking about Breath of the Wild and not the Last of Us 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2. Even Red Dead Redemption gets talked about more because it has more engaging moment to moment gameplay than it's sequel.

What's concerning to me is the little cultural reach even some of the most popular games have. Sure people know a bit about Mario and Fortnite, but no one can name the GOTY like they can the Best Picture winner, partially because the amount of units moved is still pretty low on in comparison.

Movie theaters have $10 sodas and shit. pretty close. Just trying to jew you one more time after you already bought the product.

The past year there hasn't literally been a TV series me and my wife were interested in, except for "You" because I like his stalker shenanigans.
With the lockdown, we just decided to download old stuff we've missed in our youth, namely old X-Files, Seinfield, Sharpe and others.
Holy shit what a world of difference, they were simply better, and it's not even nostalgia, they actually cared about telling a story/jokes first rather than brainwash you or trying to be incredibly dated political vehicles.
