Rondo is by far the most overrated classicvania but it's still great like every classicvania. That said 1, 3, and arguably 4 and bloodlines are better games. Rondo's strengths are its presentations and boss fights, but the level design in rondo is boring compared to other games in the series.
For me its:
3 > 4 (mostly just for nostalgia) > 1 > Bloodlines > Rondo > Chronicles
