Miyamoto: Mario Bros 3 is a piece of shit

Is he right?

miyamoto is a senile old fart who'd rather do yoga and garden than play video games.

I'd be interested in reading the full story, but really I wouldn't be surprised. Mario Bros 3 does have some glaring technical flaws and issues with level variety.

Other than that it's a genuine masterpiece.

yep I was right the full quote is more about him being embarrassed by the limitations they couldn't overcome and saying it was perfect for the time it released.

He's right, Mario 3 was the genesis for the awful series trend of just packing ~60 levels into a game and calling it a day.

There were way too many filler levels put in to artificially lengthen the game. They didn't learn from this and did the same shit in New Super Mario Bros and its 10 sequels. Super Mario Bros 2 (US version of course), Super Mario Land, and Super Mario World are the only good sidescroller Mario games.

If anything, he should be embarrassed by Super Mario Bros 2 and everything since pretty much the start of the Wii.

God I cant wait for this retard to croak already.

Everyone probably looks at something they made 20 years ago and be like oh shit, this isn't as good as i thought it was when i was young

If he's not also embarrassed by basically every single game they have made on the Wii U and Switch, then he's frankly just fucking wrong.

Miyamoto is goode...

Where the fuck are the filler levels in SMB3? That game's issue is the levels are too short if anything. And I don't see how SMB1 or Lost Levels aren't good.

He wanted Yoshi in the series since SMB1 and was always annoyed at the technical limitations the NES had. I could see him still not being truly happy with the end result as he used to be a perfectionist until old age addled his brain.

>Seething this much that the creator of his favorite game doesn't wear rose tinted goggles

You know, he's talking about 3, but I recently replayed World on the Switch on a whim. Got all 96 exits with the funky color and enemy swaps. It was fun, but I have to say that the game felt way too easy and a bit dated. I don't think I've ever gone into something expecting to have nostalgia goggles but then not.

But 3 is the best Mario game

the short levels are the filler levels. Also the obvious filler shows up from world 6 on where every world ends up with 7+ stages.

Virtually all artists look back at their older work and see problems with it, it comes with the career. The person who actually made the damn thing is far more likely to see its technical flaws or the things they couldn't finish.

Kinda, but more in the sense that in modern sense it would be, SMB3 actually had a pretty insane budget for back in the day if i remember my trivia right and while it did push some boundaries if we go by proportions he probably feel he done more shit with "less" (Budgets may be higher but so are "base" costs due increasing AAA standards.) afterwards, one can see that someone in the current age who been spoiled by modern games would be underwhelmed by it and why Miyamoto could go "Man, did we really think this was good enough back then?"

Doesn't change it is my favorite game though.

Went back and replayed it, and was kinda amazed by the amount of levels that had no clear idea/theme/mechanic, ans just were left to right courses.

It also doesn't help that all the levels are like 30 seconds long

Doki doki mario is the best of the nes trilogy

Filler meme needs to die, there is no such thing as filler, it’s just apart of the game

It's not uncommon for anyone who creates shit to look back on their old creations and feel embarrassed by them
Seeing as 90% of Zig Forums hasn't created jack shit, they wouldn't understand this

more like he obviously has shit covered goggles so he hates everything that isn't shiny new

>Miyamoto: "I look back and play some of these games and there are a lot of places where, to be honest, I'm a little embarrassed"
>Headline: "Miyamoto is embarrassed of Super Mario Bros 3"
>Zig Forums: "Miyamoto: Mario Bros 3 is a piece of shit, Is he right?"

Shh I'm trying to masturbate

> this just in, being a seething permachild Nintendo cuck is a different skill set than being a visionary genius

SMB1: Great but wouldn't really play it often
SMB2J: Funny novelty that wears off quick
SMB2U: Really fucking good and unique
SMB3: Good but not as great as people say, short levels don't really have much of a flow, but the world map encounters and mini games were a really great touch. Love the super hard airship stages at the end.
SMW: Obviously rushed, janky, and easy, but also really fucking fun and has great mechanics.
SMW2YI: This is where Miyamoto became a good game designer. This is the best game

>smw2yi: best
what? it's the worst! it started the collectathon trend that plagued the entire subsequent gen. sure the art and music are top notch, but the gameplay... god. i don't think i even made it half way through before getting bored

Miyamoto is senile and should retire
