ITT:Games you simply cannot play
Hardest I've ever been filtered. It was my first shmup so I'm gonna try playing a non-Danmaku shmup to get my feet wet before giving it another go.
I decided to never bother with Hollow Knight due to the horrible fanbase.
In my opinion there must be something very, very wrong with a game to attract such horrible people.
We really need to come up with a name for OP already.
He has been OBSESSED with HK for years and makes daily one-line shitposts.
I've been watching this woman play the game on twitch, and she's awful. She simply lacks the raw reaction timing to do anything. It's like her own eyes sees the world through 5FP, because she reacts so incredibly slow.
So she gets hit by everything because she can't react to avoid things coming her way. Plus, she constantly runs into enemies, because she can't even stop in time to avoid them. Her attacks come out super delayed and spammy, since she's late to start and late to stop. When she gets hit, she simply panics, rather than deciding how to maneuver smartly out of further danger. So she just ends up panic dashing into more damage.
If you tell her a strategy, it wipes the previous thought she had out of her mind, and she robotically follows the new instruction without understanding. But she still follows the new instruction very slowly as alway, putting a lot of thought into her next act. And it's simply things like timing jumps.
Say a laser is blocking her jump trajectory. she will wait until the laser disappears, then like half a beat later, when she finally recognizes that path is clear, she'll jump. At which point the laser has already returned. So she gets hit. She doesn't have that instinct that tells her to anticipate what the laser pattern is, and jump a little sooner so the timing her her crossing is at the point when the laser is gone. She has to SEE it gone first, before she's brave enough to take action.
Somehow, miraculously, through all of her terrible play, she's beaten hornet, gotten the wall jump, beaten soul master, gotten the crystal dash, and saved up enough money for the lantern.(despite losing her shade a ton of times) And she hasn't shown any sign of quitting. If she can push through this game, then so should you.
Your loss, I guess.
Mafia: City of Lost Heaven
10/10 SOUL trapped in a garbage game where you drive around slowly half the time so you don't lose progress from cheating police AI
it's a great game, but there are a lot of retards don't let them stop you from trying it, I was lucky to try it without ever encountering them and with no expectations.
Don't take the bait. He's using the old "fanbase BAD" bait.
>believing Zig Forums about anything
Friend got this for me recently. Christ it's the most intolerable waste of time I've ever played. It's like the entire game exists to remove all desire, agency, and critical thinking from the player. Nothing you do matters, and no amount of strategy will ever prevent a random event that forces you to retreat.
my friend is a retard who rages at the slightest obstacle and usually just quits games instantly if he isn't good at them from the get go he couldn't even handle the concept of nail pogoing on the bouncy mushrooms and took two weeks to get through the soul master but he's almost beat the game now
I've tried to play several zelda games over the last decade and none have ever held my attention enough. Something about them always repels me away about a little over halfway through the game.
I love the aesthetic and the voice work but have been avoiding it for this reason.
That's cool. The woman I'm referring to doesn't have anger issues. She gets frustrated, yeah, but doesn't rage at all. If she were a rager, I probably wouldn't have tolerated watching the stream for so long.
It took her forever to beat the soul master too. Like 4 three hour streams or something like that. It was nuts. But eventually she learned the pattern.
I'm afraid she will hit her limit soon though. The remainder of the game are all tough bosses. So if she doesn't get better than she is now, then she simply won't be able to do it. Also, I think her reflexes are forever fucked, because she's in her late 30s, and she's only NOW trying to get good at video games. Where in the past, she never played anything quite like Hollow Knight. So I can't imagine her being able to sharpen her mind and body enough to handle The Watchers. That might be the stopping point right there.
Yeah watchers tend to filter people hard
pedo Zig Forums hates it because it wipes the floor with pedo Zig Forums's pedovania Rabi Ribi
Man it sucks being on pc.
Ori and the blind forest
It's such a productive of thievery and uninspired design that I can't play it without constantly cringing. I hoped the "let's steal the entirety of and replace the main character with a block white colored animal/chibby" would die after ori, but hollow knight obviously proved otherwise.
That sounds pretty cool. I'd ask you to link her stream but I doubt it'd be wise on here. It's always interesting seeing peoples takes on genres that they're unfamiliar with. I never considered HK even a tiny bit hard so it would be kind of interesting to see what it is that gets people stuck.
RDR2
I really wanted to complete it just to know what the fuss is all about etc but I gave up after 20-30 hours and literally can't even look at it.
The setting, general pacing of the game, controls, the way game "treats you" etc make the game just unbearable to me.
I don't know shit about the fanbase but I've been playing through the game and its been pretty fun so far? What's wrong with the fanbase?
I was fucking BORED TO DEATH. And I've played rpgs and aRPGs since eye of the beholder and spent thousands of hours on diablo 2.
I played and beat Hollow Knight, the first ending. I didn't care to attempt to play any more after that. Hollow Knight is a very pretty world, nice atmosphere. But by the end I was just bored to tears and glad for it to be over. I guess the Metroidvania gameloop isn't for me.
Not exactly true. You can control for a lot of factors in an average game of DD. In fact the game gets too easy when you've played it enough. However there will always be those runs where random bad events spiral out of control. DD is more about rolling with the punches than controlling for every single thing.
I've poured 30 hours into it and feel like I've made zero progress. I've beaten a few early games bosses (?), the Necromancer, Prophet, Hag, and some Pirates, and a DLC boss in the Farm, but I swear that beating them doesn't feel like accomplishments. It's like the whole game is anti-progress.
It took me six tries to get to the miller because of a random crit or Stress dump string that would just wipe the party.
>Reality Bend Crit
>+8 Stress on party
>+30 Stress on critted
>+9-11 Stress on everyone else due to crit
>Death's Door on critted by next attack
>+11-13 Stress on party
>Critted's Resolve is Tested
>Abusive
>Third attack on party member
>Abusive comment
>+11 Stress on party
>In three attacks one character has taken 51 Stress
>The rest of the party has taken over 40 stress
The only option in a run that was previously completely fine, is to no retreat, cause even more Stress, and then go back to town, and cause more Stress, then flush 5-6k gold trying to de-stress these idiots.
Who would I ever want to deal with that?
Having watched the friend that bought it for me, the game looks like it just remains a tedious slog. While you get more control later on, the health-sponge dodge spam looks boring as fuck to "play" against.
the postgame content is probably the lowest point of Hollow Knight outside of the boss battles because there's no real exploring to do anymore it's not really a fault of the genre.
Why do people seem only to either completely drool over this game or hate the fuck out of it?
I wish my reaction to Ori at least was this strong. For me it was pretty shallow and boring. Never got the praise.
autistic fanbase provoking an autistic contrarian response
Since 2016 they've been teasing us, since fucking 2016.
its HK is a very average game, it gets a gold star for the massive world and that's about it. By no means a bad game, by no means the greatest ever.
I can't, I simply can't, you get so far, die because a bad roll and you lose all progress, fuck that game and that goes for every single rogue like out there.
I like it a lot and got tons of playtime out of it, that combined with the low price for what it is is worth praising, but I sincerely hope they improve a ton with Silksong because that sort of a game with the flaws ironed out would be fantastic and the fucking retards praising it as perfect are not helping this become a reality.
Shit take, prob hasn't even play the game.
I agree. I enjoyed it but didn't get the hype. It didn't do anything new or crazy compared to the classics, just mixed already existing ideas competently.
Yea, I'm also looking forward to Silksong, I hope they make moving around much more interesting, that was by far my biggest gripe with the game, movement was so uninteresting which is a huge sin in the genre.
If you think HK is one of the 'best' metroidvanias you simply need to play more metroidvanias.
>'best' metroidvanias
like?
I beat Hollow Knight recently and didn't think it was any better than any other game from the genre. AM2R was way better and more enjoyable for me personally, plus it was free.
I enjoyed some Metroids and Castlevanias more too. Sure, Hollow Knight is much bigger, but I don't know whether that's good or bad. It felt like a huge, complete experience, but I don't really want to replay it.
thankfully Hornet looks like a huge step up with movement so far
