The single-life zombie survival game combined with the popularity of Hunger Games mods in Minecraft paved the way for the DayZ mod which was followed by PUBG. PUBG then formalised the format which would become as fundamental as Wolfenstein was in release: a complete shift in paradigm for the industry and a move away from narrative gameplay and the power fantasy towards a competitive environment much closer to the brutal reality of the real world.
Bloodborne literally didn't do a single thing innovative or new, and it's popularity and influence are evidenced by its restriction to a single console and the relative success of games in the same vein.
