How is Hideo Kojima simultaneously a hack, but also at least partly responsible for several very good games?

Not even george lucas is that lucky
the man cannot write
but he can dream
He's God
I really wonder how much of those games is memorable specifically because of him and his weirdness, or if that is some of the writers and producers
His mind is very chaotic and retarded, but when he works with people who can harness his retardation and mold it into something acceptable it tends to be great.
He gets it right most of the time. He has the highest highs and the lowest lows of video game directors.
>several very good games
Seriously, like what?
It's pretty obvious he was the one who saved 4, mgs is nothing without him
Basically all of them, DS included.
His games are great in that they are unique and benchmarks of sorts, more than their actual writing and narrative would make you believe. Phantom Pain was more ambitious and creative than almost anything AAA studios make, but it is also autistic retarded unfinished and pretentious.
He invented the camera.
He had advisors helping him with quality control. Death Stranding is very clearly just him without restraints and it suffers terribly for it.
They're all shit. MGS is non gameplay. It's literally an awful movie.
MGS is completely gameplay
it has mechanical soul
>but also at least partly responsible for several very good games?
Name them
Good director, iffy writer
Metal Gear 1, MGS 3, peace walker and ground zeroes
Simple, talented people get exponentially hackier with both age and success
It's a fact of life
I'm still bewildered at the juxtaposition between the story the commercials told and the story the game actually provided. Phantom Pain is without a doubt the biggest disappointment in gaming in the decade.
>How
no big mystery, happens all the time. in film, in games, in music, a famous member of a team goes solo or separates, and they suck.
It leaves you with a...phantom pain, doesn't it?
HE SAID IT
>this isn't my headcanon how could this happen???
>thinking this has anything to do with headcanon
I feel it. The hype I've lost.
See, Kojima thought making the game itself a comment about the very impossibility of making an authentic and satisfying sequel would be a better idea than just making a fun game. He actively punishes the audience for wanting to be big boss so much. If that helps the game or not I dont know, but it is pretty damn ballsy for a AAA game.
based
I mean, that's literally what you said.
I remember this logic. The anons coping were pathetic
That was mgs2, idiot. V is fun af
TPP dick riders are the worst
See I genuinely think kojima thought it was a good idea, have you ever read any of his interviews? Who else would make a game be about itself not being authentic? WHO??
youtube.com
Not at all. The trailers had several scenes not shown in the game, had the trailer-specific transformation hallway scene which implies something far different than what the game provided, and had some scenes which were specifically meant to give a specific tone just to be fake outs when the game was shown.
>simultaneously a hack
I'm sorry OP I don't know this feel. I have taste
Lmao reading a bit much into a couple of seconds, I think.
Because he wasn't the absolute authority
It's almost as if there are more people working on the game than the one person who takes all the credit.
Genuinely, how many other games out there have a person like Kojima on them who somehow takes every last bit of praise for the game? I can't think of the last time I heard "X is making a new game" with an actual person's name and not a company aside him.
