>you can easily store games in a HD and load another in the internal SSD.
Now I'm buying the Xbox Series S.

Do you people not pay attention? We knew this shit already 4 months ago. You can also play OG, 360 and Bone games from a 3.0 HDD.
MS should do their job to inform the consoomer better.
it would still cause wait times, maybe not as short as redownloading, but long enough for people to complain. storage wars will still exist and while it is people's fault for being impatient and letting it slide, it is really inconvenient
I don't get it. Isn't that pretty standard?
$250 for another memory card hahaahhahaha
PSA: fuck off back to R*ddit please
They explained this wasn't the case on Series X. Interesting
Not for console plebians remember that this is also their first time using and ssd drive
pretty sure they said you can't run games off a usb3 on series x, and it can only be used for 6th, 7th and 8th gen games. this just clarifies that you can use it as an archive but you need to move it to main system storage (ssd) to actually play it.
>“You can continue to use your existing USB 3.1+ external hard drives on Xbox Series X and you can run Xbox One, 360 and OG Xbox games directly from the external USB HDD,” explains a Microsoft spokesperson. “Games optimized for Xbox Series X and the Velocity Architecture need to be run from the internal SSD or the Expandable Storage Drive.”
They tweeted it in March.
>memory card
Go back to school retard cuck hope you cath the rona
If I wanted to buy and xbox, I would buy the one that isn't gimped.
I meant storing games on external storage. I don't really get it. How is this news worthy at all?
>download 3 aaa games which fills the internal SSD
>can only have old games on the external hard drive and have to constantly swap games between HDD and SSD
>Why yes this SSD expansion card is just $200+tax+tip
Bravo Microsoft
Sony doesn't have a expansion at launch. That is worse giving that PS5 will only have 550Gb of usable space.
>not just buying a pc
lmao
sony doesn't even give you the option of an external hard drive last time i checked. if you want to upgrade you're basically in the same boat by having to buy special sony certified nvme drives that fit the size, cooling and speed requirements for ps5.
It wasn't a feature at launch on both PS4 & Xbone. PS4 only allowed full drive backups and that was it, not individual games to put onto cold storage.
this is bullshit and this guy is retarded. game sizes won't go down unless graphical fidelity stays at the same as current gen, which we all know it won't otherwise why even make new consoles in the first place. games will be more expansive and detailed, with higher quality audio due to the new 3d sound processors in the consoles. 100gb will be standard next gen.
NVME drives better plummet in cost soon otherwise Sony and Microsoft can suck a chode
>2010: swapping out discs every time you want to play a different game
>2020: swapping out harddrives every time you want to play a different game
we did it console bros!!!
the xbox expandable storage drives will get much cheaper over time than the ps5 certified SSDs. free market dictates that. MS are in complete control over the sales of their proprietary drives and the pricing. sony on the other hand have specific "certified" drives which are just off the shelf SSD drives but fit the cooling, speed and size requirements of the ps5. that means 3rd party manufacturers and sellers can hike the price since sony has no control over their pricing. it's basically the same as buying an ssd to put into your pc. xbox's one is wholly controlled by microsoft who set the retail price for it.
lmao even the wiiu had an hdd support
it was on xbox iirc. it took years for ps4 to get it. apparently it was over security concerns because the easiest way to hack a ps3 last gen was by literally just plugging a usb into it with some hacked firmware.
Maybe it's time to go back to cartridges. One ssd for each game.
aren’t these SSD going to die super fast because of the constant data transferring?
When it only had 32gb internal storage it better have fucking had USB drive support.
>"super fast SSD eliminates load times!"
>Have to reinstall game from HDD every time you want to change games
lol
Let's hope that $220 is not the price for the expansion. I'm saying this wanting the best for MS.
>easily swap games
>copying from/writing to a HDD those 70GB+ games
lol yeah it ain't hard, but that wouldn't exactly be fast
1) MS wouldn't sell a a fucking storage card for the price of their entire console
2) the images are from some random unverified retailer from what i can see, but we had series x pricing from a similar "retailer" with images that said $599 just weeks ago before the official price reveal.
conclusion is those leaks don't mean shit. there's no substance to them. if they got the series x price right then it would be a valid concern, but they didn't, so it's no different than some random guy telling you "trust me bro it's $599".
Or you could just use another ssd, shitnuts
Welcome to Consumerism
A chink SSD could be very fast to store and pull games, I think that push and pull would only be sequential read/write.
Everyone is gonna have to do this, including SX and PS5 owners.
