Nintendo fans stopped pretending it was good when it got ported to Steam

/thread

Because it fucking sucked the characters don't actually interact with each other and almost all of their stories are forgettable

yeah, I don't understand, why do they simply get together for no reason? So lazy

Because new games came out and naturally people moved on.

The combat, visuals, and music were all great, but unfortunately the story was shit

FPBP

I played it on Steam and loved it. No clue why it gets so much shit here

>Decent combat with a job system which is like crack in JRPG form
>One of the best soundtracks in a square game
>Just enough freedom to do things your way while still having structure to keep progress going
>Plots are simple but charming enough
>A proper, fairly challenging final boss
>Gorgeous sprite work

My only issues with it are the repetitive chapter structure, half the cast having redundant field skills and the dungeon designs being pretty mundane. But still a great game IMO

They don't.
They're all on their separate quests until the very last boss where every story culminates into one through their various connections.

I started playing it a bit ago and fuck me is it boring. Starts out alright but everything after the intro is the exact same just with bigger numbers. Jobs don't really feel interesting and how easy it is to swap secondary jobs makes it even less interesting.

>No clue why it gets so much shit here
Because it's on PC and was a timed Switch exclusive, that's literally it.

I'll be the first to admit that I personally got WAY too overhyped for it. I played it for probably 4-5 hours and dropped it. The initial few hours were comfy and I enjoyed the artstyle and music. It just gets terribly boring. The story is mostly nonexistent and fragmented. The combat isn't as great as I was expecting either. It has comfy music and artwork going for it but that's it, and I don't think music and art alone can carry a game. If the story and gameplay are subpar then it won't go far.

It's not particularly good

It was a good game. Nothing more to be said about it.

I enjoyed the combat a lot, especially towards the end. Party building was fun, lots of exploitable combinations especially once you get the hidden jobs, and the final boss was a great challenge to end the game on

It was a bit too easy overall though.

I don't know who the composer is but I hope they get him to do other games because fuck

the field skills come in pairs, four people use the "lawful" variant and the other four have a "chaotic version" of a similarly skill, e. g. Tressa trades fairly while Therion steals
There are no sophisticated alignment systems or anything, so you won't have people leaving over your decisions like in Baldur's Gate. The good and bad field skills are just for flavor

Except the characters do interact with each other.

I don't understand what you were expecting from this. Why do you want a ridiculous high stakes overarching story when every other jrpg does the same shit? For once the point of the game was roleplaying and the intention is obvious from the way the environment is detailed. A group of people travelling together for their own safety is the most natural thing ever, you do the same in MMOs, so I don't get why people consider this a bad thing in the game.

>For once the point of the game was roleplaying
There is no roleplaying. There are no choices to be made or branching paths

I was on both sides in this discussion and it's always the same fucking thing.
Me: I like the game.
>That's because you are a pathetic Nincel who doesn't have games to play.
Me: I didn't like the game.
>Well of course you hate it now when it's ported to PC.
You can't win. But on topic...
I'm actually doing a solo run now, with Therion, and I gotta say - it's really fun. No recruits, meaning some of the locations are locked, and the jump from chapter 1 to 2 is really bad as you have to grind. But it becomes somewhat easier when you get 2nd job (healer), decent skills and equipment.
I think the game is good, even with its frequent random encounters, but NPCs are not interesting and I usually just skip what random guy in towns has to say. Definitely not one of the best RPGs on the Switch (especially now when we have SaGa and SaGa-likes, The Last Remnant and Alliance Alive), but still worth playing.
Solid 7.5/10

I went to buy it when it got ported but it's still like a billion dollary food so I'll wait
Really looking forward to it, reminds me of golden sun

This

Because it was an RPG that had no DLC and was actually a complete fucking game on release. Once you're done and you've discussed it, there's nothing more to discuss about it.

My issue is that 'bad' version of each field skill is often just more aggravating to use, and buy endgame is just innately inferior altogether, Let's half the cast down on that front

>before port
>JRPG of the generation, GOAT exclusive
>after port
>yeah it was ok, now xenoblade thats a real JRPG

>and buy endgame is just innately inferior altogether
They tend to have better payouts for the risk user.

sort of - if a sequel comes I hope they make God tier NPCs for the endgame where seduce/steal etc. gets more use. And that seduce has more creative applications, it was annoying enough that you can't lure people away when they're guarding their house.

I mean nintendo did nothing with it. You can't expect fans to entirely carry the hype. Devs have to support a game.

Because it's fucking expensive.

Roleplaying in the traditional sense, the characters are archetypes with otherwise blank slates, fill them in how you please

>We're lazy so you do all the work

Sounds boring.

To some, but while you find it boring other find it enjoyable, everyone has different tastes. That's part of the charm of the videogame scene, there is something for everyone

Flawed but enjoyable niche JRPG.

Good
>Music is easily the best thing from this game
>Great visuals and artwork/sprites/environments
>Enough variety in skills and jobs and passives to tinker to your tastes or needs
>Secret jobs are mostly cool
>Final boss is 10/10

Meh
>Extremely limited banter and interaction between the party
>Plotholes and lots of little things that don't make sense with the fellow Travelers treated as solo their entire journey in their respective questlines even in company of others.
>Protagonist lock until you finish their story
>Cyrus and Primrose get outclassed endgame
>Therion and Alfyn are stupid broken, H'aanit with some effort as well
>Starseer is a little underwhelming

Bad
>Rarely on sale
>Quest structure is very repetitive
>Characters have a base set job instead of main and subclass
>Break system makes early game slow paced and monotonous
>Several steps back from the job system and combat system the Bravely games setup
>The people that make these games cannot design enjoyable dungeons to save their lives
>Benched members do not get EXP or JP without specific items from endgame
>No variation in grinding postgame
