>Square Enix is planning to announce Final Fantasy XVI EXCLUSIVELY for PlayStation 5, during the upcoming PS5 showcase according to some reports.
>The event is set for this Wednesday.
>Final Fantasy XVI was first rumored to make an appearance back in June when Sony held an event called The Future of Gaming. This showcase had a bunch of PS5 game announcements that included Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Project Athia, the next open-world RPG from the developers behind Final Fantasy XV.
>For some reason, Final Fantasy XVI, which was reportedly set for a reveal during the June showcase event, didn’t make the cut. It was heavily rumored for a while so its absence felt abrupt but due to the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.
>Sony announced a brand new showcase for the PS5 that will be roughly 40 minutes long, and it will give an update on the currently announced games as well as reveal some of the upcoming projects for the PS5, one of which is rumored to be Final Fantasy XVI coming exclusively to PlayStation 5. To further add some support for the rumor, it was recently discovered that a Twitter account has been made for FF16 that is registered by an official Square Enix domain.
>Shinji Hashimoto, who is a key figure for the series, has recently retweeted the announcement of the PS5 showcase. He has a tendency to retweet such news if there is an announcement related to the projects that he handles at Square Enix. He is also associated with the Kingdom Hearts series, however, it is highly unlikely that a new game will be announced during the event. The only likely explanation is a Final Fantasy game announcement and it is heavily rumored to be Final Fantasy XVI.
>GameInformer’s ex-editor Imran Khan also agrees that this event might be a good time to finally announce it. >It is reportedly being developed by the same team which is behind the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV.
What I don't get is why they've made 16+ of these games even though not a single one of them is good
Jeremiah Cook
What if it's another fucking MMO?
Anthony Carter
ff15 is the best ff
Ayden Scott
>it's another "PS5 rumour copy-pasted article, but add "exclusively/exclusive" that wasn't in the original article, using the subject field like a newfag shill thread"
People are still pretending to like modern Final Fantasy games?
Liam Brown
>It is reportedly being developed by the same team which is behind the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV Bullshit spotted. Yoshi-P himself said that he and his team are not involved in XVI. Posting source, get fucked.
>>Square Enix is planning to announce Final Fantasy XVI EXCLUSIVELY for PlayStation 5, during the upcoming PS5 showcase according to some reports. Do you mean timed exclusive? Because Square will release it on PS5 and PC for sure and even though no one buys Xbox for jrpgs they'll still release it on there.
Thomas King
It probably is since FFXIV story is wrapping up. It will go on maintenance mode like FF11
>launch in 2023 at the earliest Cool. Still not buying a PS5 until the slim.
Cooper Peterson
I sure hope so. XIV is so old already, and I'd kill for an actually playable, modern MMO.
Juan Parker
This, I’m not buying this shit before it gets smaller and less ugly
Logan Long
XV was a great PC game.
Jose Murphy
XVI will not be an MMO. XVII will logically be the next MMO based on the time and numerical gaps between XI and XIV and the fact we still have at least one entire expansion (two years of content from now) with YoshiP at the helm

Looks like a screen from Dark Souls IIII
Brody Torres
inb4 a retard thinks IIII is wrong so epic
Caleb Gomez
It was the worst FF ever made
Wyatt Garcia

ffs please no. ffxiv miraculously was a post-2000 SE game with good writing but ruined by terrible pacing and grinding. i would like to see what this team can do without the retarded limitations of an MMO
Colton Miller
It's all a lie user. The ffxiv team is working on their next xpac confirmed by their director.

I'd hate it because of how well developed my 14 account is, but honestly speaking I don't trust squenix to make an MMO. The internals of 14 are spaghetti and they clearly have not spent any time trying to fix it: - Fighting hunt mobs in big groups risks the mob vanishing into thin fucking air and rendering you unable to target it, even on PC at max settings. -They can't even add inventory slots without risking exploding the servers. -They are lazy with adding content and frequently release duplicate, dyeable versions of gear as dungeon drops instead of unique new models in order to save effort -While the ShB storyline is quite good all of the other content released in the expansion has followed the same predictable boring pattern that they have been doing for 6+ years at this point. They have consistently shown that outside of expansion MSQs they exclusively do the bare minimum to earn their subscription fees. A well implemented next gen FF MMO would be amazing, but realistically I can't see it happening nor can I trust squenix to pull it off. Plus, even though the original planned story arc is coming to an end XIV is still booming hard and I can't see them letting that cash cow die. I hope they eventually drop PS4 support in favor of PS5 (or preferably drop consoles alltogether)

Not him but why is that a Reddit opinion? >Jobs have no carryover meaning every endgame party ends up the same >One of the only games in the series that actually requires grinding to keep jobs maintained for the one or two times you actually need to swap jobs around >Mini dungeon >Frog dungeon >Literally everything down to movement on the overworld is slow >Awkward middleground of story quality between 2 and 4 that was poorly capitalised on in the remake >Content locked behind shitty mognet system, now completely impossible to 100% on original rerelease
I'm honestly unsure if 3 or 13 is the worst, but 3's remake is no doubt a contender. Still have yet to play the original.
Brody Taylor
Has yoship confirmed he is stepping away? Haven't been paying attention
Benjamin Cox
bullshit.
no games are going to be announced at this event.
if this was going to happen it would have happened during e3.
Cameron Brooks
Square-enix have been producing mediocre games for years. They had success with FF7R because of the name.
Robert Jones
People still care about this stale ass franchise? A bunch of weebs still living in 1997
Adrian Ward
Nope, he did answer questions regarding 16 though and op is a lying fag.
Jonathan Cruz
This post reeks of desperation. Typical snoygger.

I'd like to see a first trailer or a preview or something. A little gameplay would be swell, but in current year that's probably asking too much from small indie companies. I'd take a teaser too if it shows me the main protagonist and a little world.
If it's just a logo they might as well not bother.
