Watching some videos from FFXIV 1.23b and mfw >the graphics are better >the lighting is better >the animations are better >the physics are better >the dungeons are better >the enemy design is better >the quests are better
I really wish S-E had kept 1.23b alive and just made it its own thing. That game was pure unfiltered SOUL.
Is it clear when you're moving between expansions in FFXIV? I want to take a break from the game in between them, but I don't want to accidentally start on the Heavensward part of the game without realising it. Is it obvious, or is it just presented like another quest when it starts?
Mason Cooper
>unoptimized, broken down That was a result of the server-side UI and whatnot. They admittedly fucked up big time by deciding to attach all of the UI and its elements to the server.
However, that doesn't change the fact that by its last patch, old FFXIV was a much better game than the soulless chink WoW clone that is current xiv.
It takes fucking forever to get between ARR and heavansward, you have to do a metric shit-ton of patch quests inbetween. You can look up main story quest lists online and see when the heavansward portion starts, or just judge by when they finally let you into Ishgard. Even then you have to do a few quests where you run errands in old areas before they let you see the new stuff.

Argue all you want with yourself, it was shut down now and forever for being a massive waste of everyone's time.
Connor Jenkins
>no counter-argument As expected. All of the good MMOs were shut down/irreversibly changed and ruined at some point as well. It's because the publishers were chasing after the common denominator, aka (You)/2.0 players.
Joseph Bailey
All that shit is exactly why the game failed >the loveliest flowerpot in an MMO
Hudson Hernandez
I don't mind if I'm far off, I just want to know if it'll be clear if I'm in the Heavensward content once I get to it. I just don't want to go into it a bit thinking I'm still in the ARR content only to find I had already moved on to Heavensward a while ago.

>ffxiv was a much better game This is hilarious if you actually played it. The maps were ABYSMAL, it was a game that limited teleportation travel and had no mounts but put NO effort into interesting area design and used so much copy-paste you had to reference a sewer tunnel map to know where you were. The sound of your own footsteps hitting the ground was incessant. It was one of the most painfully boring games I've ever played.
Daniel Nelson
If you are following the story then it's kinda obvious when you are reaching a new expansion since the characters will talk about visiting another country or some other grand place that you have never visited before. If you are not following the story, then it's obvious once you reach a new city that you have never seen for like 20 levels
Oliver Watson
That was only in early 1.0. By 1.23b they had done massive upgrades to the world and it was much better. If they had kept it alive they would have continued improving it as well.
Carson Morales
Pretty sure the credits will play at the end of 2.0, and then again at the end of 2.5. As soon as you get the second credits playing, your next quest should be the first one for Heavensward.
Connor James
For the first set of credits do you mean the ones that play after the Ultima weapon and all that? I just beat Leviathan, so would that mean I'll be done with ARR after the next credits or the credits after that?
Camden Torres
Did they also totally scrap the UI and make an entirely new one? Delete every quest from the game and replace them all? Redesign every non-city map in the game? That's what it would require to save the 1.0 I played
Anthony Green
Yeah, the next set of credits should be after the last quest before Heavensward.

>tfw still have my legacy character sitting on ridill i probably would have used it but i can't remember if there was a server transfer option when the game first came out,it was only like lvl 13 anyway
William Brooks
Each set of content has an obvious climax and finale and each new expansion an introduction and has new hubs.
You'll know exactly where you stand.
Logan Brooks
I made sure to get to level 30 and get the goobbue and get that legacy discount, then new players couldn't go to legacy servers, and couldn't transfer and had to make a new character on Lamia.
>looks good >plays like shit you niggas need to leave Zig Forums and go watch movies, you're in the wrong hobby
Brandon Collins
my computer died on me a short while after i got the game,by the time i had something that could run games the servers died sadly, still it was nice getting the collectors edition for 1.0 for like 15 bucks on amazon

>They admittedly fucked up big time by deciding to attach all of the UI and its elements to the server. Which they could have fixed any time during its later patches, but didn't. All they did was remove one extra window step when trying to drop/sell an item. Majority of the client menus should have been completely client driven, and not needing a server prompt for simple shit like opening your character display.
