comes out on my birthday, gonna enjoy playing through it with my friends now that this version has online.

SMG2 has cool levels and is plenty different from SMG, 3DWorld feels like someone took the 3DLand engine and made some levels to accomodate four people, levels aren't fun, enemies are stupid.

This.. I remember a level where you ride a Loch Ness monster type beast down a waterfall and the last level having Cat Bowser and that’s literally it.

What does 3D world have? It’s q fucking rehash of a HANDHELD 3D Mario that was significantly downgraded due to being on a handheld. Couple that with the worse-than-NSMB-ified plastic artstyle and you have what is by far the most soulless and boring mario game in existence.

Galaxy 2 is the last 3D Mario game with soul. It's a different kind of soul from Galaxy 1, but it has the soul of a perfect sequel.

I had a ton of fun playing it with my brother. Fuck you and you're arbitrary definition of SOUL. I enjoyed it way more than Sunshine.

Anyone else just can't get past the "hold B to run" mechanic?

I don't mind it in the old games, but it just doesn't work for me in 3D Mario. It's so fucking distracting and frustrating for me, prevents me from giving this game a chance.

3D World is a 2D Mario game with 3D Mario controls. It's a really quality game but it's not particularly difficult, nor does it have setpieces or common locations like 64/Sunshine/Galaxy. Galaxy 2 was linear to an extent but each Galaxy still had multiple objectives. 3DW is just straight-forward, pretty, colorful, and offered just enough variety with its characters since they're actually different. I rather enjoyed it but it doesn't feel like an adventure like other 3D Marios, which is probably part of why Odyssey goes in the completely opposite direction with its scope.
