2010

>2010
>commercial and critical succes, wins multiple game of the year awards etc.
>now
>everyone pretends like it's literally the worst thing ever, worst story ever, worst characters ever, normie streamers make fun of it constantly etc.
What happened? I know the game has flaws. But back then people could discuss it normally, now the criticism is so one sided, they like to shit on it just for the sake of it and pick on every little thing
>WHAT, FUTURE GLASSES? THE GAME TAKES PLACE IN 2011, SUCH TECHNOLOGY DIDN'T EXIST. SO STUPID, WORSE GAME EVUH XD
It's so petty. There are much worse games and Heavy Rain is still enjoyable as a pulp story.

I thought we agreed that interactive movies we a complete failure.

As far as I know cage never claimed he makes games, but interactive fiction

>As far as I know cage never claimed he makes games, but shitty interactive fiction
ftfy

Everyone was thrashing it even in 2010. Hell the meme press x to Jason had a flash game back in the day.

SHAUN !?!??!

It's a meme game that people pretended was good because it was cinematic.

David Cage games are all 10/10 and you freaks hate him because you're jealous. He's extremely based, all the women in his games are pretty, white and on the brink of getting raped, his protagonists are extremely likeable and his game plots are good.

Except for Omikron.

It's just one of those games that don't hold up on a second play-through or over time. You start noticing how bad some of the writing is since you pay more attention to it rather than bumbling around doing the QTE's.

I'M HERE TO SEE MF DOOM

dear god user. I hope you're being ironic or suffered a brain injury

>What happened?
It isn't a game, retard. It's a shitty interactive movie and was widely panned by everyone that actually gives a shit about video games as a medium from day one. Heavy Rain quite literally plays itself. There's no failure state, just a different ending. Boring schlock.

I liked it honestly. At least choices actually mattered in it and the atmosphere was nice. That's more than I can say for Tge Walking Dead which people drooled over despite being less of a game than HR is.

>this is 10/10
lmaoing @ your life

I think this game started us on the downward spiral of movie videogames that are more focused on telling a really shitty story and stripping away control from the player in order to focus on their shitty story.

The only thing good about it was the memes

Detroit is shit, not good even in a schlocky way. Heavy Rain is cringe kino, Beyond two souls is just ok.

2/3rds of Detroit are shit. The Connor and Hank bits are unironic 8 or 9/10 detective noir.

There is literally nothing wrong with interactive movie games. The problem is the quantity or rather those that are trying to be the best of both but failing.

It is. Your racism is cringe

>the generic washed up veteran racist detective partnered with a nigger that end up bonding (but it's actually an android) trope
Not a movie buff, eh?

I only like Hank, Connor is overrated, not even truly autistic, he's just your "uwu so quirky" character for normalfags. No real character flaws, and his "character development" is worthless since he was literally designed with deviance in mind. The entire premise of androids "learning" to be human is stupid and I would shoah those androids HARD.

>it's racist to not find hamfisted racial allegories interesting or good or worth any intelligent discussion
consider me a confederate then

Honestly I always appreciated what Heavy Rain tried to do, and I feel like people are starting to see how a cinematic game can REALLY fail now that TLOU2 is out. Seriously people, apologize to Heavy Rain already.

I don’t understand why the same people who mock David Cage games (and rightfully so) think pic related is good.

Because Until Dawn is cleverly written and David Cage is a hack

its basically an adventure game with WRPG style branching paths, its a great concept. people will always laugh at things that are unique, even if they are influential. people STILL make fun of the bad RE1 voice acting yet Resident Evil's influence on games is undeniable

It's always been a meme like the rest of Cage's games
Everyone enjoys it ironically

Tropes are fine when they're done well, 99% of all fiction has tropes of some kind
