As someone who has only played World, is there any point in playing any other games from the series if you have already played this one? I mean, it can't get any better than this, can it?
It's got the god tier graphics, god tier combat, all the necessary QoL changes, a fuckton of monsters, etc. It's like the entire series has been bulding up to this title, every other game looks inferior in comparison.
But then again, what do I know? I haven't played them after all.
>a fuckton of monsters hahahahahahahaha play gen ultimate world baby
Thomas Edwards
World and IB are good but it lacks some of the charm from the older games. Genu is great, if you have the opportunity to try it do so. It has more monsters that world. "Classic" MH has a much more hardcore appeal since it's never been very begginer friendly. If you dont mind playing on the 3ds, you could try 4u and 3u. 3u is good and has inderwater combat which i personally liked. Didnt play 4u but i heard its great. Really the main thing I think that world did bad was the endgame. I didnt like it in either world or IB.

I played Generations after World (my first MH game) with my 2 homies local co-op and I preferred it to World. Make of that what you will.
don't play gen ultimate OP too much info to take in, shitty animay hunter arts, animay deviant monsters and hp bloat on hyper monsters. literally souless play fu or 4u instead
Most of the previous thread I saw always recommended 4u. never seen genu recomendations. dunno, im a worldbaby myself.

For me the perfect MH is 4U, 3U is too easy, monster just die at the first 5 minutes and on GenU the hunt arts and styles just kill the MH feel and looks like any other anime action game, wuack!
think i know the answer, but do you have any evidence to suggest it'll play like "classic" monhun?
Juan Hall
play 4U for a decent story and good G rank GenU / XX if you wanna see some experiments with a "skill system" that affects every weapon, also a ton of monsters
and that's about it some weirdos would tell you to play 3 for the swimming meme, which is probably not that bad emulated with a non-3ds controller
frontier is an absolute meme but it's there i guess
Nolan Green
>any evidence to suggest it'll play like "classic" monhun? They don't even have evidence to suggest it exist lol
What are you, limp dick bitches? Play them all. Dick behemoth, dick nergigante, dick dalamadur, dick gogmazios, dick valstrax, dick ahtal-ka, dick ceadeus, dick dire miralis. And more importantly, fuck dromes in the ass 3 times per day.
this makes me wish for a training-challenge mode where they teach you how to counter these kind of situations something like the arksys fightan games challenges

>No one recommends the most soulful game in the series
If you got money and time and especially if you already have a Switch just go for it and play MHGU bud
John Diaz
>2020 >tendies are STILL seething about MHW nearly 3 years after the franchise made the choice to leave them behind for hardware that could actually support their vision >they really think MH is going back to them after Capcom finally freed themselves from the shackles of years deprecated hardware The hubris of Nintendo zealots never fails to amuse
Dylan White
World is to Monster Hunter what Skyrim is to Elder Scrolls.
Tyler Russell
Better controls, visuals and qol improvements?
Perfect analogy you got there fren.
Nolan Miller
No, tendie, MHW is not bad simply because you're mad you can't play it

New set to get me through the bullshit High Rank roar -> insta charge one shot combo
I beat it on PS4 and PC. It's an okay game, but casualized as fuck and missing a ton of content.
Thomas Bell
4U has the highest monster count and is free from stupid ass hunter arts, try that one or FU for a rude awakening.
Jack James
play a real monhun like fu and tell me you still love the series
Noah Brooks
GenU is an celebration of all other monster hunter games. You meet characters from other games, get a few subtle references from their games and see them talk about each other. You do their requests to unlock some armor from their games but unobtainable by farming monsters.
I honestly don't like all the anime shit from GenU but even if you do, you're going to enjoy it as much as someone who started from other games did. Oh and the tutorials for styles is non-existent, you're just sent to practice on a maccao on an arena. You're expected to learn everything by yourself so it's a rough game to start.
Because some of the hit boxes are ridiculous which is frustrating like the classic Plesioth Hipcheck. It's either that or Portable 3, which was kinda easy. I think Portable 2G was the best though. 3U was a fucking trash fire and 4U wasn't bad but wasn't nearly as fun for some reason and I could never tell why. . I even went back and 2G just feels better to play maybe because it feels more structured without all the jumpy bullshit.
Because underwater combat fucking ruined the game. Not only was it conceptually fucking stupid, but it played like fucking shit as well. 3U further cemented that, where they had to add lock-on to the game and even then required you to buy a shitty bulky massive controller add on for extra buttons and a second thumbstick. 3U and Tri are the worst in the series bar-none, and the fact Portable 3rd removed all the water shit but was otherwise just the stuff from Tri and went on to be the best selling game in the series says a lot.
