FUCKING FUCK MAKING GAMES

FUCKING FUCK MAKING GAMES

3d modeling to use on the fuckign games is such a fucking nightmare as if actually making the fucking thing wasn't enough of a fucking nightmare you can't just fucking draw over it or apply a texture in a logical and comprehensible way that shit is another diferent thing in and on itself not to mention that if you decide to go back and tweak something on the fucking shape itselg the fuckign shit image thats projected as a texture decides that its a good moment to have afucking stroke and nuke everything so you have no choice than to fucking work in the future and the past at the same time tying to fucking predict where the thing you are bending will retroactively affect the way it interacts with a fucking texture you havent even fucking applied yet im not fucking magic how the fuck

and this shit is just one step then i got to animate the fucking thing in a way it doesnt nuke itself just by existing alongside other string held delicate itty bitty shit just so its a fucking thing that moves and then fuckign code it so it actually does happen when it's supposed to and then im supposed to keep every single individual instance and grouping that all of these shits are living on hoping it keeps a cohesive sense of harmony for whats ultimately supposed to be fucking fun and how the fuck am i going to get the music and the voices and how the fuck am i supposed to make the menus and then make the menus look pretty and work fuck this fuckign shti waht the fuck

No wonder all one man band indie shits are fucking 2d pixel shit i want to fuckign kill myself making 3d stuff is a fuckign meme fuck it fuck you fuck me

Just fucking kill me

Best part of 3d is reusability. Yes, by that I mean asset flipping.

Word. I've been making games for over 15 years. Not only is it a massive amount of work, but it's usually slapped together with the most rickety collection of slapdash bullshit and it's a miracle anything ever runs at all.

AI is already making things way easier.

But seriously though I would not recommend using realistic* 3D models in a solo project game.

Bro you got a story yet i can do that part

Every single person who has ever modeled/textured/rigged anything has complained about how unintuitive the process is and how much they hate it. Is it actually fundamentally not an easy thing to fix, or why can't things be done in an intuitive way? With all this extra processing power you'd think we'd be able to use it to make things easier for ourselves.

soulless

Why are they wasting this technology in nigger games?

Animation yes.
Modelling and texturing, no. Seriously no or we will have more bioware-tier shits but worse.

I want to FUCK Japan

The cool thing is now and again I sit down to learn, come up with a decent character I'm happy with, and then completely fucking forget everything.
I'm really good at everything else related to development but 3D art pipelines won't stay in my head since it's not something I do full time.

I'd try answering this but I'd get really fucking angry about tools, and I wish to retain my zen today

What does idea guy mean

useless person with no practical skills

Why are you making models when you can just either buy them or flip free ones off a storefront somewhere?

>3d modellers of this calibre never does porn
Is there no porn addicted rich dude or something who'd finance this?

you have an idea and can't bring nothing else to the table

Basically every woman at work

The person with a vision, the real term is director but idiots call it that to dimish it's value.

People being able to code and do art shit without leadirship, well that's just as worthless as a super computer without a keyboard.

if you don't use a proper software (3D max/Maya), and use shit like Blunder, you deserve it.

>>tfw too dumb for 3d
No you just lazy, give it maximum 3 months you be good enough, that is you are practicing.

AI can do everything except draw and imagine things it has never seen.

Humans still win.

Look at loomis, Proko, Bridgeman, and then draw from reference.

realism is actually easier and faster to achieve than stylized
PBR is a very well documented workflow, whereas with any stylization worth anything you have to code your own shaders and come up with your own material workflow.

The next version of 3ds max will use deep learning AI for retopo and uv.

???
you can do stylized texturing with substance painter/photoshop (ddo?) or even mixer.
And modeling stylized models is not hard if you're not too bad.

what's so much better about those

I fucking love making 3D models of inanimate objects and environments but making people and creatures is incredibly fucking hard, so I understand your pain. Texturing is beyond the worst shit ever, it either works flawlessly and you never have to fiddle with anything outside of setting texture to "texture image", or you have to manually set the UV's perfectly, make sure the texture is fine, make sure the Normals are ok, make sure this and that and those and them are all A-fucking-Okay.
3D modelling is just an entire can of worms that amateur devs don't realize is an art form in of itself. That's why there's loads of low poly shit.

>loomis
If you want to be a subhuman westerntrash "artist" go right ahead. You'll be coloring red noses and drawing hideous hambeasts in no time.

Most people have ideas that they think are super cool and unique (they probably arent), the people who get then made are people with some appreciable skill to start getting it done.

No one hires someone to sit around and be the 'hey this sounds cool' guy.

Inb4 'that's just what writers do', they actually have a skill, you know...writing. Constructing good dialogue, writing multiple versions of something, understanding story structures, etc.

Anyone who calls themselves an 'idea guy' is useless and most likely annoying.

>but making people and creatures is incredibly fucking hard
it's not if you use the proper workflow and softwares
In this case, Zbrush obviously and many others.

Some *actual* idea guys exists and work as a creative force, but there is like one in ten millions and are very valuable.
They also have traditionnal skill sets.

Derogatory term by code monkeys for people who figure out how the game actually works such as game designers, directors, producers (although fuck producers IMO).

>Loomis
>Westerntrash
Confirmed deviantart tier "it's my style" artist that got called out for having disgusting bug eyed creatures since he's never trained his eye.

that doesn't refute any of my points. You're still doing PBR if you're using substance.
Compare any modern pre-packaged metal/rough BRDF workflow to arcsys ggxrd/fighterZ, where they're adjusting individual vertex normals to get the correct shading per model. It's not even close.
