WoW newfag

I'm just deciding to get into WoW now, going with retail since I was told it's got much more content. What's the best class/race to pick for a starter? What are some things I should know going into it?

Kys retard

Wait a few weeks until prepatch at this point. Right now leveling is a mess story wise.

>getting into Wow in 2020
Jump off a cliff Please.

are you a furry? tauren or worgen
are you a retard? human or blood elf
are you a pedophile? dwarf gnome or goblin

Why would you focus on keeping a job like this instead of concentrating that insecurity on focusing on doing a good job.

DONT DO IT LOSER

WoW is in a really bad place dude. There are better options available.

>best class/race
Whatever looks the coolest to you
>some things I should know
Leveling is a very disconnected experience and the game is focused on endgame a lot more. Also, Shadowlands comes out in a month and will revamp the entire leveling experience
Also what everyone above told you about not playing the game

This is like deciding to take up smoking in your mid-thirties. The peer pressure is long since gone and you really ought to know better by now.

Ignore the fuckin' idiots who love to bandwagon hate the game.

There's a lot to do, even if it's just achievement/mount/transmog collecting. There's really no 'best' race/class combo - the actual stats the races get are so inconsequential by late game it's pointless. Take a good look at all of the racials they have, and pair it with a class you think you'd have fun with.

Look up class guides on Icy Veins for general builds and what abilities are worth taking for talents and what not.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help. 13 year vet here.

>all this WoW hate
What gives? The game still seems to be really popular and its getting yet another huge update in a few weeks.

its just a boring, genric mmo lootfest.
Some people enjoy that kind of thing, other people dont.

what are the other options in 2020?

Demon Hunter is the easiest class to pick up and play. They also start pretty high level. I'm not sure if theres still a restriction of needing a high level to play. Blood Elf or Night Elf.

If you can't, then make a Hunter. Beast Mastery is nice cause your ranged and you can do 100% of your abilities while moving. I'm partial to Worgen Hunters myself.

OSRS

1000x this. Make a trial account and level a few characters to 20 to see what class you like the best but DON'T level beyond that because it's a confusing shitshow and it's being completely overhauled soon. Come back when Shadowlands is released because then the BFA content will be free and you have to play through that as a first-timer anyway.
As for class, they pretty much all have the same low skill floor and high skill ceiling. Just pick the class that has the aesthetics that appeal to you.

Play on a high pop RP server. Even if you don't plan on doing any RP. They just have better and more active communities than regular servers.

>get into WoW
>in 2020
You’re literally 15 years late holy shit.

Besides not playing an MMO? SWTOR, ESO, OSRS, FFXIV. Not saying any of those games are good, but they’re better than WoW. But if you’re really itching to play WoW, you can always join a private server for free to try it out.

I have started playing recently as a ret paladin at level 64 but it feels like I'm way too late for the bandwagon. Like the vast majority of players have already experienced the golden age of the game through classic and new players are just left with retail to try and catch up

do you hate yourself or something

You picked a bad time to start because the current leveling is a disaster. The meat of the game has always been the endgame and it's a huge flaw that the current leveling puts people off ever getting there. Maybe wait for prepatch/SL and then finish leveling in actually good content, then get into the SL endgame when it's still new to everyone. Ret is a pretty comfy spec at endgame.

don't play it. it's dead and infested with sjw crap

If I was just starting the game, I'd play the free starter edition. The prepatch will likely be launched in two weeks, which is going to completely revamp leveling. I'd take that two weeks to level each class up to 20 to see what I like. Then once prepatch releses level my chosen character. Personally.

Your first mistake was not going classic. It’s not 2004 WoW, but it’s your best shot at what once was the peak of the genre.

This.
Switching from illidan to the RP (pvp) server Emerald Dream rekindled my love of WoW

>Play on a high pop RP server. Even if you don't plan on doing any RP
fuck off my server you non-rper cunt

Is there any way to disable that 100% xp buff? Makes the leveling process feel really weird for a first time player, I went from 1-20 in like 1.5 hours

Can you explain what makes the communities better?

wait until prepatch to start the game
nothing cunt we're all toxic af don't go on rp servers

World pvp guilds that have rivalry with other guilds, sometimes guilds will host events open to the public on a weekly basis (usually world pvp) or one instance of bar hopping across in game taverns. Just make a character on Emerald Dream and you'll have fun.
