I finally got around to playing it. What was supposed to make me think this is the greatest open world game ever made? Skyrim is unironically more detailed and impressive. Is it just because you can climb shit and glide off it? There's nothing to find except a million shrines and korok seeds. None of the side quests were interesting and the combat is boring. The main quest is literally just "find the 4 minions before fighting the big boss" which has been done a million times. I seriously want to know what the hype is about. It's a 7 or 8 at best.

I feel like if you spend a bunch of time on the internet reading about how much people love a game/ get hyped for a release you're always in for disappointment.

I recently played through this game too, had 0 expectations I never liked zelda and never really cared for people's opinions and I ended up enjoying it. I could see if I took all the hype seriously how frustrated I would be with it

All of the side quests were in teresting and the combat is fun. The main quest is deep in lore about how the big boss fucked everybody over which has been done very few times. I seriously want to know what the hate is about. It's an 8 or a 9 at worst.

Hello this is OP. I still enjoyed a fair amount of it but it definitely started to drag on. It was way too hyped up for me, I found most of it more frustrating and tedious than I did fun. It was a great time killer if anything but that's only because of how unnecessarily big it was. I just wanted something more. Nothing in the story could even hold my attention. All the guardians have the exact same story and only Daruk was likeable. Zelda herself probably has the most interesting character but it wasn't enough to get me invested in her.

Because it's a video game, not a video movie. The gameplay is solid and not hampered down by pretentious bullshit. It was a breath of fresh air when it was released.

I don't even need that much story but the combat was pretty stale. They haven't even fixed the age old problem of completely halting the flow of combat to pause and heal. Some of the shrine puzzles were fun but half of them were fighting the same guardian over and over. And some were just retarded like all the gyro control ones. And if I wanted a survival game with good progression I would unironically prefer Minecraft.
