Nioh, everyone assumed it was just hurr another identical soulsclone and tried to play it in the exact same way before getting filtered hard, and instead of actually recognizing the very large and blatantly obvious mechanical differences and focuses, just bitched and whined until the devs changed the game so that ultimately the game would be harder to learn for them, but they could random through it by being retarded. Then because people were still shit at the game, it gave them the illusion that it was solely loot driven, despite that being entirely optional and the game's heaviest balance issues having little to nothing to do with the loot system. Not to mention the rabid crying about the loot when it has so many extremely simple filter and sorting options, and again is not needed to do huge damage if you just play the game moderately well. This becomes extremely obvious because of any time the game pushes back the bitching comes again, which AGAIN only led to shit being cut because they can't just ignore it or learn the bare fucking minimum. The game's true beauty lies in it's action game philosophy and design, the other aspects serve to enhance that, and people need to start actually giving it a shot instead of wallowing in and celebrating their ignorance.

A thing I hate is how many people think that "dying frequently = hard game".
Dark Souls isn't that hard - but you die often. You're supposed to, there's no set amount of lives, there are several mechanics based around dying, it's all about failing and learning from it.
But so many people seem to think that automatically makes it the hardest game ever.

Miyazaki himself even said the point of the souls games was never the difficulty. In fact, the difficulty was very literally a mere side-effect caused by other, actually desired design choices. That's not to say it didn't add to the game, it did, but it really wasn't the point.
