A white knight is when somebody defends girls in online arguments thinking they will like him back and fuck him. But a simp is more like, when he is even more desperate and will do anything for her just so she will acknowledge his existence. It's way different...
A white knight simply defends women in general online in hopes women will like him in general, but a simp donates a bunch of money to the same girl over and over again and constantly does things for her in hopes she will like him.
So they are unique terms in fact.
I do not really mind. To be fair a lot of internet humour from around the time of "white knight" was kinda cringe, like a lot of the rage faces aren't that much better than wojak honestly.
