Oryx started as a shitty subservient alien race with a lifespan of like 7 years. They found some ancient worm gods that offered power via 3 forms/roles: King, Knight, and Mother. Oryx was a "female" alien (though being very alien, their genders most likely didn't line up with ours much), and took the king morph so technically became male.
But it's not really the same as trans at all.

iirc all hive are born female, and only become male if they become a knight or a king. It's an aspect of their physiology, not bungie being woke

The last expansion and all of the seasonal content has been underwhelming, they continue to raise the Power cap every few months so you have to grind old content to get your level up before you can do anything new and they've added level caps to all gear so that you won't be able to upgrade your weapons and armor (except for exotics) past a certain point.

Female knights exist, like Xivu and Mengoor.
Nokris, Oryx's son, the only known male Wizard though.

It depends.
They just started level capping gear based their season and are going to start vaulting content in November. If you know you're going to stick with it for a while you should start grinding for armor mods that aren't going to be available after November.
