Better than 3K, and that’s saying something
Werehog platforming.
The fucking battle theme.
Medals.
This one was terrible though. SA 1 and 2 were actually good and fun.
>Werehog platforming.
What makes these sections such effective pleb filters?
1 is good, but 2 is hot garbage
you got your numbers switched
Chun Nan music was good.
>Medals
Aren't these just collectables?
>Introduced 2D sections in 3D games
>Introduced boost in 3D games
>Human designs don't fit the Sonic style at all
>First game where Tails became useless
I'll say it was the last good 3D Sonic game but that's not saying much
You are gated out of future stages if you don't have enough.
they're both a hell of a lot better than unleashed.
unleashed is like a chinese knockoff of that concept with a shitty beat em up thrown in making up half the content.
he didnt, sa2 and beyond were all boost shit
This.
The day side of Unleashed is a pretty game they clearly put effort into - production values are way better than Forces on next-gen somehow.
But it also started the damning trend of every modern Sonic boss being an opponent who flies backwards as Sonic chases them down at the same speed.
t
Best Sonic game
>being an opponent who flies backwards as Sonic chases them down at the same speed.
There is nothing wrong with this.
It's not a perfect game, but I still love Unleashed and had way more fun with it than I did with the supposed "good" Sonic games.
how the hell did Sega get so much good staff working on Unleashed to begin with though?
its shitty and boring, so there's a lot wrong with it.
SA1 and SA2 had much better bosses that were actually creative.
When it is every single boss Sonic gets to fight these days, it is.
I think Forces managed to mix it up a single time for the Zavok/Bee robot fight, and that is it.
because it wasnt that far from Sonic 06 and Sega still invested most of their resources into Sonic. That all changed as Yakuza became more popular, and Sonic Team was raided for talent by Nintendo. Most of the important people who did tech for Unleashed are the same people who did tech for Odyssey.
06 is a good game.
damn, I was hoping the next Sonic game would be the Sonic equivalent of Odyssey but turns out that's already Unleashed
>2d in 3d
Fair enough but it wasn't that bad and usually was around 30 seconds and kept your momentum
>boost
Not inherently bad only when used as an excuse to have no obstacles
>human designs
They fit in definitely more than the old ones
>Frails
True
its a very bad game
its only good feature is the soundtrack, and the characterization of Shadow
No, it's pretty good.
Sonic 06 is a terrible videogame
Wrong.
Unleashed has soul but it still has all of the fucking problems that have plagued modern Sonic since Adventure
>daytime stages, the "good parts" are basically premature ejaculation and over just as they get good
>werehog is completely different and way overstays its welcome to the point where you can barely appreciate any actually good parts of it
>game forces you to collect medals to progress, meaning you're replaying stages if you missed shit only because you literally have to
>hub world is "cozy" but broken up into a million fucking loading screens and makes you to tedious shit to pad the game out
Compare that shit any of the classic Sonic games
>game sticks with one playstyle
>multiple characters have unique abilities that still mesh with the core gameplay
>games are short and sweet
>collectibles are optional and encourages players to play the game exactly how they want to without forcing them
I want to like Unleashed and there are lots of things about it that I do like, but you can't deny that it's bogged down by a lot of shit. It's not just Unleashed either. The Adventure games, Heroes, Shadow, '06, and even more recent titles like Forces have some or all of these problems.
These problems won't go away either, because people would bitch if a modern Sonic game wasn't padded out with hours of bullshit because then they wouldn't be getting their "money's worth". Which is unfortunate because Mania showed how successful a short and sweet game can be.
It really doesn't have any soul. Some daytime levels look kind of nice, but everything in between the levels is the most soulless awful thing imaginable.
I know, right? Who would've thought that a Sonic game would have not just one, but two pleb filters? Just another reason why Unleashed is the best.
