Final Fantasy XIV

I am a new player and I just finished the patch 3.5 MSQ. What am I in for with this expansion?

More anime than usual.

What exactly do you want to know?
You want some details plot spoilers?
I can tell you how it ends if you like.

A decent expansion that tried to do something interesting by splitting the narrative between two areas and mostly failed.

Fist clenching

You're in for my cute, daft wife Lyse.

A bit disappointing when coming off from Heavensward, but there are still some gems and the patch cycle sets you up nicely for kinobringers.

aren't there some good trials? like kefka or yojimbo

probably the best one in terms of actual gameplay at the time, but since you're doing it after the fact you kinda just get an eh story that doesn't really go anywhere until the later patches

OP, what's your opinion on mhiggers?

For sure! But I was mainly responding in regards to the broad scope of the MSQ rather than ALL the content.

Trials are overall fun though there are a couple of annoying duds.
Raid series was generally okay though many at the time felt that there were really only a couple of bosses worth much until the final tier.
Ultimates were added to the game in this xpack if you really want a challenge at level 70
Eureka was an omage to old school grindy mmo gameplay and borrows from 11. Its soloable now but its still a timesink
24mans are overall fun and are tied to FF Tactics

>Run into someone using "The Ultimate Legend" in SoS EX
>Constantly fucks up mechanics
>says nothing, doesn't acknowledge being called out
>Party search message is empty
>Has no logs despite joining PF, name doesn't even appear on the fflogs search
I thought "bought ultimate clear" was just a meme, what the actual fuck

>Ruby weapon farm party
>Perfect Legend in group
>Dies to the first Helixclaw mechanic
>Chat: "The Perfect Legend"
>Immediately leaves the party
Fucking Priceless

An extreme snoozefest and the worst villain yet

kek
shame all shitters

Shiva Unreal was the biggest flag of this in all of time. Almost every party I was in had people in 505 gear, ultimate titles, or ultimate weapons glamour. At least 1-2 in EVERY party. I still had 10+ fucking groups fail and quit before we won. I felt like the only guy doing mechanics perfect in each fight. I had to make macros to warn everyone else of sword/staff. I had to insist on teaching each group where to stand. It was fucking awful.

I cannot even imagine when Titan Unreal or Ramuh Unreal come.

The content itself is good
Story can be underwhelming at times but it also has some great moments

I saw this just tonight, it's fucking absurd. Parties breaking up before the first pull because of people fighting over spots. Tanks refusing to pull her to the wall for Bow phase, people not stacking for Sword+Shield, multiple retards dying to Staff AoEs because they can't even remember the spots they fought over.

It's three fucking mechanics. THREE. On a fixed two-minute loop.
>Shiva circles
>Sword or Staff with Cards/Intercards as safe spots
>Bow, stand behind her for initial AoE, then move to the sides so the back is open for the marked person to get pushed back if they're singled out twice and can't knockback immune
>rinse and repeat for 8 minutes
It is not fucking hard. It absolutely baffles me.

story 5/10
combat content 8/10
music 10/10

I feel Ifrit EX is gonna be the biggest filter. It's very healercentric and all it takes is one badly positioned healer to easily wipe the group

...

I hope they jump around instead of just cycling through the ARR primals. I would absolutely love to see the amount of pure salt a Zurvan Unreal could create with FF14's modern crybaby PF scene.

My static managed to beat it on day 2 after trying different shit. Also given how hard people STILL struggle in the eden version of titan, unreal is going to cause people to quit altogether

>be a triple legend
>join random parties and throw on purpose
SOMEONE STOP ME

Please god no. My ass is still sore from the seal mechanic which if by some miracle you got a party that could actually do soar instead of whining about DPS, they would fuck it up 9 times outta 10. Farming parties were a fucking nightmare.

>skip soar or disband
>can't skip soar because min ilvl
>retards lying through their teeth and insisting that they've done it when people won't carry them
>no one will actually learn the mechanic even though it's fucking babby-tier as far as EX mechanics go

You're doing god's work, reinforcing the stereotype

I started with ShB and had a lot of trouble with Shiva Unreal at first. I think it was because of how everything about the fight is designed to blend together, even the knockback marker is hard to see unless you zoom in really close. The later fights are much better designed visually speaking.

Yeah Shiva EX/Unreal is a fucking disaster visually. E6S is the exact same way, just orange on orange on orange.

>shitters on NA DCs running solo tank 5 DPS parties to desperately try and skip soar
>meanwhile I was effortlessly skipping it day 1 with a standard comp with my raid group

This
Soar was the gatekeeper, Seal/Meteors were the real salt mine
