The demake is developed exclusively by Ubisoft Mumbai, an Indian studio, assisted by Ubisoft Pune, also an Indian studio.
It's why all the characters in the demake look like pajeets and why all the architecture looks more Indian than Persian and why the game looks like shit in general.
And if that wasn't enough, both Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Pune are rebranded Gameloft satelite studios. You know, Gameloft, the company making all those shitty Java games.

Inb4 "6?". There's 3 different Forgotten Sands games, all with different story that happen between events of Sands of Time and Warrior Within.
Chronologically out of the 3D games with voice acting it's this:
Sands of Time -> Forgotten Sands (PC/PS360) -> Forgotten Sands (PSP) -> Forgotten Sands (Wii) -> Warrior Within -> Two Thrones
In terms of non-voice acting, there's also Forgotten Sands (DS) set after Two Thrones and Battles of Prince of Persia (DS) which is a strategy game set after Forgotten Sands (Wii) but before Warrior Within.
