There's been pretty consistent threads on Zig Forums ever since it was first revealed and it gets a new trailer ever major game convention/event that happens. This is easily the most advertised Arkane game to date. Anyway, the least hyped games are the ones you never knew existed. For fuck's sake, Serious Sam 4 comes out in a week yet nobody gives a fuck.

I'll probably buy Deathloop and Gloomwood at launch or preorder. Arkane's never done me dirty, and Gloomwood doesn't look like it'll live up to Thief but after playing the demo it should still be fun.

Basically your choices including choices of skills and equipment give you many different ways to complete an objective. While good rpg give you a different ways to end quest, good immersive sim give you a different ways to reach that end.

I liked Dishonored but I have 0 interest in Deathloop. Something from this game feels off, and I can't really point what it is (and no, nothing to do with the characters)

Prey is more of an immersive sim than every game categorized as such except maybe Deus Ex.

I'm interested in this game but I do wonder how it works. Is the goal to figure out how to kill all the targets in one loop? Or do they stay dead once killed?

Immersive sims are like having a dungeon master create a scenario for you in which you can traverse in a freeform manner with the DM rarely ever saying "No, you cannot complete this task in this way".
If you can think of doing a task in a way that is absolutely ludicrous, using the tools and physics given to you, you could chuck a wrench into the sky and have it accidentally land on your target and it'd count as completing the mission in an immersive sim.

Basically, it's the opposite of linear gameplay. You might have a linear objective, which is a character must die at all costs, but the way they die is completely up to you. Heck, good immersive sims will make it so that even though it's heavily implied that they have to die and there's no way around it, you can actually ally with your target under the right circumstances and the story rolls with it and has it's own little progression path for that action.

I think that minimal (or barebones) immersive elements are what you see in Fallen Aces trailer. Like kicking a guy under the car instead of killing him, more realistic body damage (shooting guy in his dick leads to appropriate response, slashing with knife around neck actually slits guy's throat) and enemies reacting to their environments (like noises). Others would include stuff like alternative ways of opening doors. Don't have keys? Blow it up with explosives, burn it or chop with axe.

Bethesda literally bought them so they didn't go out of business, they don't give a shit about the sales believe it or not. They were trying to buy Arkane since right after Arx released and basically killed Arkane.

This game doesn't even bring up race once you fucking schizo.

Zig Forums was a mistake.

It seems like it's about killing everyone in one loop. Since they made a point of showing that you can get the scientist to go to the party so you can kill two targets at once.

Prey was game of the decade so I doubt that. I'm sure it'll be a good game, great even, but Prey was peak Arkane.

Yes. The entire goal of the game is to kill 8 targets in one day. If you fail in any way then you start over. But you, the player, reain the knowledge of the target's schedules, habits, and so on and are able to manipulate the the world around you to have a better chance at killing all 8 in one day. Then there's the rival assassin who is a NPC that hunts you constantly and acts more like a multiplayer bot. Said assassin can be controlled by a real player if you have the online functionality enabled. If she kills you then you restart.
