Hollow Knight

Guys, I figured something out. Every lore video has it wrong. They only talk about the radiance and the pale king fighting against each other.

But in reality, Hollow Knight is about various different sources of energy/life force
The Radiance is only one. With it's brilliant light, it grants dreams
But then you have Unn with it's vegetation
Isma with it's acid and fog(Uumuu might be a higher being as well)
The fungus with their spores.
Crystal with their electric like energy.
The blue life blood
The dark creeping abyssal power
The crimson fiery energy that fuels the passions of Grimm's people.
The bees with their honey.
And lastly the pale white energy that emanates from the great wyrm.

They say the king granted his people higher thought, but that isn't exactly true. Any one of these energy sources would give bugs higher thought. The pale energy is just one brand. The Pale king came in and dominated the market.
He somehow suppressed the Radiance's power. Which deadened the senses of all the bugs under the Radiance's influence. And then gifted them with his own power.
He then went on to make pacts with the remaining life sources, thus extending his will onto them. And harvesting crystal to take that energy too. He overtook the dark, and used it to his will as well. That's why there's a light tower in the abyss. The pale like banishes the dark.

Lifeblood however, might have eluded him. As you need Joni's blessing in order to access the heart of lifeblood which resides in the Abyss. Without Joni's blessing, life blood remains untampered with. And Joni look her charm to her grave which is hidden on the outskirts of hollownest. It could be that she was protecting it by taking it as far from the King as she dared, without losing it to the outer wastelands.

tl;dr: the pale king is the true villain.

oh, I didn't know that.
Well, I suspect that we don't actually meet any truly deific figures. But rather people who are especially attuned to the energies they inhabit. They have the ability to wield certain energy well, and so they appear like gods to those who can't.

The 5 knights served the pale king, So maybe they had some of his powers/strength. But yeah I think we only have brief interactions with truly powerful beings in hollow knight.

god holy knight is so shit. why are these marketers still trying to force threads? give up pajeet

I adhere to this theory due to there being evidence for it.
The bees showed their own intelligence and were never corrupted by the radiance. The abyssal power was and is just angst-ridden by nature. There are no infected fungi in the game.

>pale king villain
dropped, discarded, and retarded
king is one of the only based characters in the game, along with shit defender and the hunter
And maybe hornet too, if its true that she kills your siblings

She does, although it's not clear why. Maybe just because infection infested vessels are dangerous?

...

too long; didn’t read

The fungi were all infected actually. Hence all the orange goop they spat out.The mantises somehow avoided infection. Which I think is due to the fact that they relied on their own strength, rather than the King's strength. Thus, when the infection spread, they didn't have any internal cases. They fought all outsiders, and so avoided the infection.

The fungi relied on the king's power of prescience. But that couldn't stop their demise. When you dream nail pic related, he says "Pale Wyrm...What good to foresee a demise unavoidable?"

Couple minor holes.
The crystals are extensions of the Radiance's will. The "singing" that the miners hear is the Radiance calling her wayward children home. Crystal Peaks was Ground Zero for the Radiance's infection, be it through the Radiance's light within the crystals or the rediscovered statue at the top of the world screaming REMEMBER ME into the dreams of those who see it.

Yup, hence the bug miner at the entrance becoming infected all on her own just by interacting with the crystal

>Describing someone as "based"
A sure fire way of telling when someone is thinking with their heart and not their head.

It's because she has seen firsthand what happens when a flawed sibling tries to contain the Radiance. If a sibling is too weak to survive a duel with Hornet, whether lacking the strength or lacking the resolve to fight back, then what chance do they have of containing the Radiance? The Lost Kin tried to absorb the infection. It did everything it was supposed to do, and it still failed because it wasn't perfect enough.

Is that what's implied? I thought the broken vessel just lost its will and was infected like the rest. I guess it makes sense that the particularly infected nature of its lair indicates that it might have tried to draw the orange shit into itself, but is there more explicit evidence?

No, the the crystals are just crystals with their own power. The radiance has been infecting everyone's *dreams*. That's how she gets everyone. The less mental fortitude a creature has, the more susceptible it is. Myla the miner was a nice bug, but she was simple minded, and she "dreamed" big of becoming rich. This made her easy to manipulate.

The statue at the crown of Hollownest says "remember... light". This is just a lingering dream inside of the stone itself, and not actually a beacon for the radiance. I mean think about it. Why would the Pale King go through all the trouble of creating the Hollow Knight, and not even consider breaking the statue at the crown? He didn't believe it was dangerous.

Fact of the matter is: No one is safe in their own dreams. Dealing with the Radiance is like dealing with Freddy Krueger.

cringe!

Look at how rapidly the infection overtook the broken vessel compared to the Hollow Knight.
The Hollow Knight has had time to fully mature while holding the overwhelming majority of the Radiance's power within itself and the Black Egg. The Lost Kin is still child-sized, but has fared far worse than the Hollow Knight while containing far less of the Radiance's power. Just look at the massive orange cysts covering the broken vessel.
Put simply, the broken vessel just doesn't measure up compared to its predecessor. It managed to get further than any of the other siblings we see, but it couldn't go far enough.

The broken vessel is actually empty when you first encounter it. And then the "lightseeds" jump into its head and take control. I don't believe he tried to absorb the infection initially. But something else must have killed him.

how long has it been since the hollow knight infection and the arrival of the knight?

>But in reality, Hollow Knight is about various different sources of energy/life force
mossbag talked about it.
