Never thought this game had a chance as a sequel, but I can only assume that the additional merchandising or perceived boost in brand interest from kids that it generated is why it got a sequel.

The first was a pretty excellent pokemon clone so i'm pretty glad, great art style and character designs and I never hated the combat system as much as other people seem to.

I think the combat would be great if capcom just added a few more basic attack types instead of having just rock, paper, scissors.

I dunno and Amazon will never make those numbers public, but the fact it's the top physical game and several slots over heavy hitters like Ocarina of Time and Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon suggests it may have picked enough late steam to justify a sequel.

No, is the sequel announcement what caused this, the same happened when HW:AoC was announced, it boosted HW:DE sales by 400%.

Hunters and Riders wouldn't get along, right?

If first game is any indication, they'd be just fine. Riders fucking end up killing just as many monsters as hunters do. The first rider also was originally a hunter.
