I know that this will never be the case, but the only way I can see a Zelda series not being cringe is if they set it during a time where there is no Link or Zelda, such as during one of the game's back stories (the Hyrule Unification War, the Interloper War, the conflict that led to the great flood) but I know that for marketing reasons, they would never leave them out.

Live action Zelda will be a mistake. It needs to be an anime, either done by Ghibli or another unique studio which can properly emulate the tone and feel. Maybe an animation style similar to "Castlevania".
