Realistically speaking, can it ever be topped or was it lightning in a bottle?

Contracts got really close.
2016 and 2016-2 are good games.
2016 is still the best in the series.
Unarguably the game that set the bar for the Hitman franchise.
It will never be topped
hitman 2 silent assassin is shit though. fuck that game
I'll give it to ya. That's one retarded and shit tier opinion you guys got going.
t. nigger tier zoomer fag who never even played codename 47
>Best in the series
>No real rating system
>"Opportunities"
>Only one specific way to kill each target
>Disguises are worthless
2016 is great fun but if you think it's the best then it's probably the only one you played.
HITMAN 2 already topped it
HITMAN 3 is gonna annihilate it
>no rating system
Wrong. It's actually a challenge to get a perfect rating.
>opportunities
You can completely ignore these and kill the target your own way
>one specific way
See above. There are no shortage of tactics you can use.
>disguises are worthless
If you're dim enough to walk in front of observant people (highlighted with white dots), then yeah. But that says more about your lack of brains.
>the only one you played.
>probably the only one you played.
It's the only one worth playing desu.
Nah, Blood Money really is a masterpiece in the series. 2016 is good, but it somehow lacks the charisma of that game, maybe because Providence isn't quite as compelling a villain as Leland Caine and Mark were.
>the best
>no Jesper Kyd soundtrack
>dull targets
>less customisation
>shitty time limted unlockables/content
Good joke, Blood Money is still the absolute best in the series.
Keep btfoing numan drones, fellow BM bois.
Contracts is really good too. I recently went back to play it and while it has aged quite a bit it's still great, it and BM are just filled with so much personality.
Fuck IO, and fuck Epic Games
>no Jesper Kyd soundtrack
Is he ever coming back? nu-Man's OSTs are so soulless.
No, because the atmosphere and soundtrack make for an unforgettably unique aesthetic that’s so perfectly suited to a Hitman game. No matter how much the graphics and gameplay mechanics improve in newer titles, they can’t recapture that feeling. Blood Money’s ambience was actually enhanced by the technical limitations of the time.
I agree, completely soulless. He works on Assassin's Creed now I believe, Ubisoft likely play him much more than IO could, a real shame.
Hitman 3 already looks worse than Hitman 2 let alone Blood Money. Granted I’m biased against it because of the Epic deal, but that murder mystery level they showcased looks like pure Reddit trash.
His stuff with AC is really good, although I haven't played any of the newer ones. ACII's OST is amazing and gives me Hitman vibes at times.

what the flying fuck is that supposed to mean?

They are good games but completely devoid of soul, something even absolution had despite being garbage.
Will we ever get this level of kino again?
It’s frustrating but rewarding. Great atmosphere similar to Contracts, but not as consistent.
I have no doubt he's still excellent, I just wish he'd come back for a Hitman or two. It really just isn't the same without his musical composition.
Was it really that bad?
It means they’re making an entire level where 47 will be posing as a meme character and interacting with a cast of quirky characters. Part of the reason the new games are lacking in atmosphere is because 47 talks too much (as does Diana) and doesn’t feel threatening. It feels like you’re playing as a secret agent for whom killing people is an afterthought.
Compare new murder mystery level to the Beldingford Manor from Contracts. In that level you’re a silent killer infiltrating a mansion at night and stalking through secret passageways to murder an old man while he sleeps. In the new level you’re acting out Rian Johnson’s Knives Out with 47 playing the Daniel Craig role.
Probably my favorite level in the series. The older Hitman games had the perfect balance between thick atmosphere with sparse dry humor thrown in them; nu-Man feels more like Mission Impossible.
Silent Assassin had a similar premise, it was a lot better to.
the AI is shit, the levels are unnecessarily huge or long, and the methods through which you must kill the target are sometimes obtuse and so yeah it's frustrating and not very fun at all. sucks ass. the only good level in my opinion was the one where you feed the guy the poisoned sushi. that was great, classic hitman
