Why is it so visually ugly and washed out? Is this the power of B-team and RE Engine on Switch?

A lot of games are like that now unfortunately
YAAAAS I FINALLY GET TO PLAY MH WORLD, WHICH I HATED UNTIL YESTERDAY,
ON THE GO
because it's on a switch trying to handle world scale maps
And on an engine that already struggled on PS4/Xbone. Capcom should have stuck with MT Framework.
@30 fps even and I bet it still drops
The trailer was full of drops. It's gonna be a nightmare getting RE Engine to function on the bingtendo.
Is this not using MT Framework like World is?
I think this is a low-risk test run for RE Engine.
this, it's just asset swap with world, make 3 new mons, a gimmick and call it a day, this all but confirms the next mainline will be on the new engine

RE Engine
I would say it depends on how the test run for RE Engine goes. Remember when Atlus tested Gamebryo for Catherine but then opted out of it for Persona 5 anyways?
Green and black, green and black, green and black.
Enjoy your exclusive switch friends, I'll wait for World 2.
ugliest monhun to date
>Enjoy your exclusive switch friends
They've never said it's exclusive. It's definitely coming to other platforms. But I don't see why really given that World still has active userbase and this seems just like an inferior form of it.
Meanwhile 3rd Portable from 2007.
"Monster Hunter Rise will release on March 26, 2021, exclusively for Nintendo Switch."
From google.
Yes, on that date, it's only on Switch. But this screams Octopath/DxM.
because it is a handheld
This is the new mainline game idiot. Capcom ALWAYS reuse assets with MH. They can't make World, and then just jump into make World 2 for next Gen.
lol
>But this screams Octopath/DxM.
And you're basing that on...
>Why is it so visually ugly and washed out?
Because World was ugly and washed out. That's what happens when a shitty game sells well, you get even more shitty games.
>The sheer amount of SOUL in this game is leaking from the trailers and already filtering graphicsfaggots.
I bet you stopped playing Dragon's Dogma before even getting to Gran Soren.
The fact that they've been very reluctant on saying it's only ever on Switch in marketing. The Nintendo twitter even said Disgaea 6 was exclusive but no such wording for Rise.
Doesn't matter to me anyways. I see no point playing an inferior form of World.
>soul
>looks like a 2005 PC game with every setting turned to very low
This is the opposite of soul. This is soulless.
switchlets HAVE to be blind at this point, no amount of portability can excuse these downgrades. handheld gaming is dead
Even in dark cold cave p3rd had color.
>The fact that they've been very reluctant on saying it's only ever on Switch in marketing
They quite literally said it was exclusive several times over user.
>actually responding to smug anime bait
How new are you to gaming or monhun? No way you played more than one generation
I'm glad it's over.
The phrasing implies it's specific for that date. Again, has happened pretty much with every third party "exclusive" game on Switch. They eventually always get ported.
>But I don't see why really given that World still has active userbase
That's like asking why there's a new Call of Duty every year when people are still playing the previous one. It's not unheard of for companies to outright replace their own games with a new one a year or two down the line. Hell with Monster Hunter you can argue it's almost expected. To add to that...
>this seems just like an inferior form of it
We hardly know anything about Rise aside from 3 new monsters, two returning, and there's dogs. It'll probably have enough as base World did or maybe more because the team is surely using what they learned from that game's development. Not like it's going to be G Rank/Master Rank right out the gate because that has never happened in this series 15+ years of being around. Ever.
>I don't want more World, give me instead World with shittier graphics, less content and 20 fps
Tendies...
Isn't this pic a bit ironic? In the end Andy goes back to Woody.
>Why is it so visually ugly and washed out?
Welcome to 5th gen MH
It's just bad art direction, the home base looks like shit too, least comfy town I've seen in MH. All the art talent is working on the sequel to world.
>Classic players have world living in their head.
It’s hilarious how much a shitty game changed the franchise.
Imma play world so I can brush up for Rise.
>It's not unheard of for companies to outright replace their own games
Rise does not replace World. It's at best a handheld alternative to a platform that never even got World. And everything about the project seems way less effort and budget than World.
> the team is surely using what they learned from that game's development
The World team is most definitely working on World 2 now. They got their interns in training on Rise. It's a good way to train new blood.
I really hope the next MH goes back to simple village with simple life and problems.
Maybe even fully realize the ideas that jumbo village had going. So it would get bigger, but not astera/selena/kamamuri big.
MHGU was exclusive as well. You can keep dreaming, but there's no evidence that says otherwise. Not until Capcom themselves spell it out in clear letters.
But it was for 3ds first.
The guy who originally leaked it said it was on RE Engine but I call bullshit on that since the only other RE Engine game to be on Switch had to be streamed from a server in order to run properly and the leaker gets tons of detail wrong all the time. I doubt that a budget portable title will be the MH series’ debut on RE Engine, especially when they’ve said that MH won’t be making the shift to RE Engine any time soon.
It’s only rumours about it using RE Engine. It’s most likely using the updated version of MT Frameworks that World uses, since MT Frameworks already runs like a dream on Switch and even GU used it.
In the direct they said they are using RE engine.
World is also strangely ugly, I remember thinking it looked washed out like dragon's dogma. This is a whole new low, it makes world look amazing in comparison. I really wish they had gone with a polished version of the 3ds games rather than a massive downgrade from world but they needed to reuse assets and mons.
Huh, no wonder it looks choppy. You’d think they’d play it safe with MT Frameworks rather than go all in on RE Engine for the equivalent of a portable game, but I guess they really wanna make sure it works right in time for MH6.
Didn't you say there's a chance it'll be released on other platforms later? So if that happens then what? People would surely want to fight the new monsters if they don't plan on buying a Switch, even if there isn't as much content as Iceborne. It didn't long for people to jump ship from 4U to Generations.
>And everything about the project seems way less effort and budget than World
I don't see how bringing in more skeletons for more monster variety, developing new regions, and hiring on voice actors that do more than just grunt as 'way less effort', but hey you have your reasoning I guess.
>The World team is most definitely working on World 2 now
They're working on MH6 which definitely won't be 'World 2'. Rise is a continuation of the 5th generation, but after it they're definitely moving onto something new and it's up in the air how much they actually plan to retain from World. Plus it's been known for a long time that there's two teams working on Monster Hunter, each making full fledged games and know what they're doing. I wouldn't easily hand wave this as an 'intern project' just because it's on a different system.
World’s real problem was art direction, the new areas in Iceborne are much more colourful and less dull. It seems like Rise’s problem is technology based as opposed to an artistic decision though.
