I don't get why general media always put rap shit and black people together. I live in suburban town and grown up with about 5 black people in school, none of them liked rap. It's always white people.

He was created for the Ultimate Spider-Man comics (alternate universe based on early 2000s culture, basically - it was pretty good when Peter was the MC) after they kill off Peter. This was around 2012-ish(?) and I remember a semi-big deal being made about it. But a lot of people weren't happy with it. People kind of forgot about it after a month though because nobody actually reads comic books.

So he's been the MC of Ultimate Spider-Man ever since then. I did not hear much about his run of comics after the initial beginning so I assume it wasn't very good. Apparently he got merged into the main comics too or something, idk.

But they used him in that animated Spider-Verse movie last year (or was it the year before?) and that's where his popularity blew up. From memory, he's a lot wackier than his comic counterpart and kind of changed the basis of his character.

And I guess to coincide with the movie/thanks to the movie's popularity they included him in the 2018 Spider-Man game too. Which I think sets him up to become Spider-Man in this new expansion.
