What are you thoughts?
What are you thoughts?
Why is it so dark?
Best game in 15 years.
KINO
Look too generic to the point people compare it to Witcher and GOT
I'm always down for more FF, and I like the general direction of this from what I've seen and read about it so far.
WoFF 2 when though?
Dunno, but I'm all for it. Reminds me of Type-kin0
Let Zig Forums get to me when the trailer first dropped.
I'm tentatively excited, but I never cared for Witcher/Dragon Age. Hoping Square's take doesn't put me to sleep.
I think it's shaping up to be the best action RPG since KH2FM
If you watch the trailer with Vagrant Story in mind as it's inspiration, it's a lot more positive. It is on the plain side yet but it's the first trailer. I'm tentatively excited.
its a budget title that sony bankrolled, SE wanted it to be an exclusive Spinoff but Sony would only pay for a main line entry. Squenix took the money because their resources are tied up with 7Remake. My expectations are low.
If its set in Ivalice its going to be a great game. If not it can possibly flop.
Pleasantly optimistic and I look forward to seeing more of it.
The more I rewatch the trailer, the more I like it. The more discussion I see of it, the more I think there's something really interesting going on in it. It's only a 4min long trailer, so we'll run out of things to talk about eventually until the next info dump, but I'm growing increasingly more excited for it.
Also, it has a character creator.
Boring generic garbage.
SOULLESS
very boring
It's going to be the best single player FF since FFXII. The era of Nomura has ended. We will finally have a good game
I was expecting an exciting, intriguing new world - no matter what you think about FF games individually, from VI onwards they've offered very unique worlds to explore.
But that trailer gave us a generic-looking medieval setting with run-of-the-mill architecture and costumes, all rendered in shades of mud and dust bunnies. The characters are bland, with no strong individual features.
12 was meh
13 was bad
15 was bad
7r was bad
why do people still have faith in this franchise again????
I hope the FFT/VS team is involved.
I have great hopes for it at any rate.
cautiously optimistic
FF15 was fantasy based on reality and it still looked more fantasy than whatever shit they've put in the FF16 trailer. If I wanted a game about European peasants that has no identity I'd buy some eurojank on Steam. This is not an FF game.
And finally have good combat too
looks really good. how was type 0?
I have higher hopes for this one, it looks so far like they've been learning from their mistakes.
bad
agreed except that 12 is actually worse than the others you listed
Don't lump 12 with them. 12 is fantastic
>WoFF is better than XV
how the fuck did they manage that?
Type 0 was fuck awful and don’t let coomers tell you otherwise because of “muh panties”
>Also, it has a character creator.
no, it really doesn't
Setting looks bit dull, otherwise i'm hyped for the first time in years
>teleportation shit that looks exactly XV
>IT'S GOOD THIS TIME! I KNOW BECAUSE I KNOW
No it isn’t you fat bitch.
12 had a great aesthetic, art style, character designs, music, and fight system. The story unfortunately was a mess
>inb4 IT PLAYS ITSELF!
no retard, setting up the gambits IS the battle system
Looking forward to it. But I'm a Final Fantasy fanboy through and through.
Bro did you even play KH3RM?
Based
It seems boring but I don't care. I'll just wait for FF7R Part 2.
>yasss generic ass drab WRPG garbage omnomnom
2fm babbies don't play anything but 2fm
Reminds me of The Witcher 3, for some reason. I already hate the combat and hairstyles.
Will definitely pirate on either PS5 or PC.
shadowbringers and heavensward gave me some hope in SE again
? you can easily say the teleport looks like air trick if you wanted too
Being medieval doesn't mean everything has to be plain, drab and dingy. And the character models still look like spotless K-Pop stars, so it's the worst of both worlds.
what if its set on Hydaelyn?
It's a gap closer you moron. Looks nothing like 15
>12 is fantastic
kek
yes it is, you cum guzzler.
Fairly based opinion
Ivalice doesn't have Eikons, it has Espers.
it doesn't work that way, idiot. What we know is that the battle direction is heavily influenced by DMC and Dragon's Dogma because of the guy who worked on the battle systems of said games.
So imagine that Summon abilities are the Devil Arms and Jobs are the Styles (Royal Guard, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Trickster)
16 looks clunky and slow compared to 15 and also has worse graphics than 15
those are the worst ffs with the worst graphics
Because this looks radically different from those games and neither Nomura or Tabata are involved
only difference is that it looks less fluent than XV's teleportation....oh sorry "gap closer". Didn't know that you can only close gaps by disappearing and reappearing.
GTFO, Barry.
Finally? You had the same exact shit in FF15.
it isn't
better than 14 and its xpacs
With Yoshi-P as the producer it may be possible. They do reference the Mother Crystal in the trailer, and they do use the word Eikon for Shiva and such.
Looks nothing like XV's warp strike. It's literally Dante's step. The guy in charge of combat is taking a lot from DMC.
Way to out how absolutely ignorant you are.
that combat looks slow, clunky and worse than 15s combat
to early to tell if it's going to be good or not
15 has gap closers you retard
>there is a literal who that worked on other games so this game must be like them
flawless logic. Nomura and Nojima both worked on FF7 so the FF7 remake is just like it, right? Herp derp!
>So imagine that Summon abilities are the Devil Arms and Jobs are the Styles (Royal Guard, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Trickster)
Oh I think DMC is shit too but I still see no good reason to expect that it will even be like that.
If they do do this, it should never be outright stated there's a connection. It should always be something with lots of plausible deniability. Cause it's more fun that way.
>hire the dude who worked on Dragon's Dogma
>don't let him make the combat like Dragon's Dogma
As always, Squareshit are fucking retarded
Everything looks great except the character designs
on seconds thought, it cant be Hydealyn, the summoning is too different from the established method in XIV
Is he a blue mage? Are we finally getting a blue mage pro tag?
They said "our mothercrystal". It sounded like each nation has their own mothercrystal, which I guess powers their Dominant, who in turn channels/summons their Eikon.
No relationship whatsoever with The Mothercrystal who is Hydaelyn's body.
having them on it means nothing
15 had mgr, bayonetta, kh2 and vanquish deve on it
16 looks nothing like dmc gameplay
just look at dmc5se compared to 16 and 16 looks way worse
2FM's combat mechanics are still better overall but yeah 3RM is still good and singlehandedly redeemed the entire game
All you need to know that hacks handle the writing is to hear the MC deliver a generic "I'll kill you" line with that pissy look on his face.
>YES WE WANT THE WESTERN AUDIENCE YOU LIKE GAME OF THRONES YES GAIJIN-SAMA? WE'VE GOT JUST THE THING HERE
GTFO, Larry.
>had to preface trailer by saying it wasn't on PS5
>nothing to show until 2021
PS6 game.
>hire the guy who worked on DMCV
>let him make the combat like DMCV
As always, Square Enix are fucking smart.
Warpstrike is a Gap Closer?
did the Multiplayer DLC make Holding O look fancy?
The summons are too important for this to be Ivalice.
why do you think it has a character creator??
>like DMCV
lol
XV has hap closers on opening attacks retard, gap closers that are way faster than what we see in 16
Could be Pre-Amaurot if it is set on the Source
honest opinion: it looks boring as fuck. they're trying to appeal to redditors by copying the shitcher and game of thrones, meanwhile the combat is the exact same garbage as ffxv.
i don't care how much it makes people seethe, we all collectively need to admit that based nomura is the key ingredient that separates final fantasy from other series. without his involvement, this franchise has no originality anymore and just rips off western AAA games (xiv copied world of warcraft, xv copied ubisoft, xvi is copying cdpr). final fantasy without nomura is like zelda without koizumi.
I always figured we would end up here and also always been against the push to realtime combat in the series because of that. I like DMC and Souls so it’s not like I can’t enjoy or push through a story with those kind of systems, but I’d like Final Fantasy to stay Final Fantasy.
Never cared if its set in the future, medieval or whatever but to me the essence of FF is going on a globetrotting adventure in a magical world with a diverse team of characters working together to stop a threat they’d be hopeless against without each other. If it strays from that, why even buy a Final Fantasy game?
I’ve always felt like Square’s newer design philosophies, things like eliminating the world map and pursuing action systems they haven’t outright “killed” this notion of FF I’ve described but they’ve betrayed it and been so crafty at the same time. You just know they want to so badly, but they were doing it in halfsteps until now.
I’d liken Modern Final Fantasy to being with a cheating spouse in a failing marriage in a way, I-IX things were pure bliss. The FFX-XII era things remain okay but you still see signs of her lightly flirting with that guy you aren’t supposed to worry about. Fabula Nova Crystallis era was like a dead bedroom where it isn’t working so she gets you to begrudgingly agree to take some time apart. FFXV/FFVIIR she seems friskier all of a sudden but then hands you an ultimatum of wanting an open marriage to spice up her sex life.
The FFXVI trailer is her outright admitting she wants to cuck you and refuses sex with you while still calling herself your wife meanwhile her friends (Square-Enix shills) are gaslighting you saying it’s okay she’s still your wife, it’s still FF bro, relationships can be polyamorous now get with the times and stop jumping to conclusions. It’s just the first trailer, there could still be party members! But deep down you know it’s over and in reality it has been for decades now.
I'm not a huge FF fan myself. I've played more than my share of titles in the series. I've only ever been able to beat XV and 4HoL. I enjoyed the setting and atmosphere of XV, the combat left a lot to be desired, it was serviceable enough. The story was way too convoluted for me to even want to grasp, it also needed too much outsource material to form a complete story. Otherwise, the game itself was fine. 4HoL I absolutely adore. It presents itself as a very classic FF. The graphics and sound are some of the best the DS has to offer in my opinion. The battle system was a little wonky at first, but you get the hang of it as your progress.
Anyway, the trailer for XVI looks very promising. I'm a combat kind of person, so I prefer that over everything else a game has to offer. From what I have seen so far, it's right up my alley. Everything else can fall into place as I play the game.
Reminds me of how things are set up in Final Fantasy Type 0
Coomers?
Thanks for the reply and agreeing with what I said.
you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about
lel
DMC is garbage.
combats nothing like 15
Could be cool. The combat already looks more "video-gamey", for lack of a better term, than FFXV's. Snappier without so much animation in-between making it feel sluggish and "realistic". Obviously I'd need to see way more before I could judge it but I'm definitely interested.
>I-IX things were pure bliss
That's a lie if I've ever seen one
Do you even know what a gap closer is
Please keep proving you never played XV
it's also pasta
It's XV-autist. Just ignore him and he'll leave.
The only thing that can save it is being set in the Ivalice universe
Team Ivalice has literally never failed. Ever. It's always a colossal huge story about warring kingdoms and empires with politics and lots of tribes and it feels cool as fuck.
Ivalice is middle-eastern middle earth.
They are literally identical, sans this shitty air juggling lifted from musou/dmc.
Looks like a combination of a blue mage and a summoner
>Team Ivalice has literally never failed
FF12
>combats nothing like 15
true, it's actually good compared to this
>Please keep proving you never played XV
I beat the base game but never touched the DLCs due to not wanting to experience more of it's "gameplay"
>i don't care how much it makes people seethe, we all collectively need to admit that based nomura is the key ingredient that separates final fantasy from other series
Nah Sakaguchi was Final Fantasy's special sauce. He wasn't flawless either, but without him the series oscillates between bland boring garbage like and whacky cringy KH nonsense like.
>whacky cringy
so just FF
You're proving you've never played 15
As unlikely as it was I had hoped for XVI to return to turn based battles with the job system. Instead it looks like we're getting another action RPG combat system which no matter how good it is just isn't what I want from the FF franchise.
Funny how both XV and 7R can be "played" this way. Somebody needs to do KyoAni trick to Squeenix headquarters.
What this dude said. Even the gambits as gay as they could be are essentially just a way of doing ATB in a 3D space. Turning FFVII into a full action game is gay, adding flashy DMC styled combat to XVI is even worse.
It would make more sense to combine the summons and jobs into one thing, there might be other normal weapons too
