I don't know user, in 2009 it was an entirely new genre and personally I had no fucking idea what I was playing, entire game felt like a weird gimmick. Having replayed it later I got a much better understanding of the game. DeS does a pretty poor job of conveying the soulslike formula to you, DS does it much better.

The Souls formula is predicated on atmosphere, enemies, bosses, and level design. They are pretty even except nothing in Dark Souls comes close to Latria in terms of atmosphere.
Well, that and level design. Dark Souls has a ton of dogshit levels, no getting around it, and the open meme doesn't make up for that.
The combat of Dark Souls is also noticeably clunkier, slower, and the weapon movesets are worse.

I played on my PS3 and can't even run it properly on PC. The remake looks like complete thrash.
