Witcher 3 was long as fuck. Most games don't even go near the runtime of W3 (except JRPGs).
Why would anyone be surprised that Cyberpunk would be shorter than the W3, a painfully long game.

Witcher 3's main story is incredibly short if you ignore sidequests.

You forgot that there's no wallrunning anymore and that it was removed because of tacked-on multiplaer.

It really isn't. Most people just start doing secondary missions for hours and get bored of the game.

my normie friends are pre-ordering ps5 just to play this game. the hype train is in full effect, this game will be a huge success based on hype alone
they don't know dick all about it or care. I asked why they were looking forward to it so much it didn't seem like the type of game they normally go for and they sounded legitimately confused as to why I would even ask that, almost as if they wanted to respond something like "I am buying it because I was told to buy it, idiot"

More people who beat the game directly translates into more DLC sales at full price, thus increasing their margins without hitting you with a Season Pass or MTX'ing everything. Shorter game, faster runs, more completions, greater WoM, more sales. Simple as.
