no hand holding, no quest compasses, no scripted bullshit pretend gameplay sequences, just you, your boys, guns, and bugs in a big map. you know what to do, figure it out.

they distill to the basics what the player wants. and thats guns and bugs and the player gets it

also the reason the serious sam series has thrived

As much as I like EDF 5 it leaves a lot to be desired. So many weapons are either worthless or too much of a pain in the ass to use, and I really don't understand why so many of the Fencer weapons required an air raider. It's like needing someone to hold your massive dick while you try to piss.

It's a just handful of the homing weapons that need a guide. Also, if your weapons are no good, that means you need to upgrade them.
that's always how they are. like 80% of your weapons are weird gimicky shit that doesn't really work, 90% if you're wing diver
Fencer got a 40x improvement from the 4.1 version, with 70% of his weapons being usable rather than 10% in 4.1 due to movement limitations.
Also the air raider weapons are fun as fuck to use. You DO have IRL friends who consistently play the game with you, r-right??

I'm worried EDF6 will just feel like a stand-alone expansion pack to EDF5.
Still annoyed about Iron Rain's garbage netcode and generally smaller scale maps. 6p co-op was great when it wasn't desyncing to death.
I'm curious if World Brothers is going to be a decent spin-off or if it might be too kid-friendly.
