Yes it was always extremely dated

it's probably one of the best n64 games. everything else is more or less more outdated

yes, nintendo could've fixed all this for the Collection, but they opted to do the bare minimum instead

No but you'll always be a zoomer

The controls were extremely good for their time and if you weren't such a philistine, you could appreciate it for what it is.

Everyone who isn't a zoomer was well aware the only good thing about mario64 was the novelty of 3d.

That’s star road though zoom zoom

Lol why would ibplaybthis trash when I can play odyssey? Which is WORLDS better than this. Nostalgia is truly the worst drug

Is this the secret vtuber thread?
How you enjoying Kiara so far lads?

I think most of the levels aged poorly

You know I've never played this game, but how the fuck is "dated mechanics" a criticism? Of course the game feels dated, it's over two decades old you zoomer faggot.

You will have a lot of ninturbotoddlers throwing used diapers at you user for stating that fact

Yeah, gamers didn't even rank it as a top 100 game of all time back in 2002

Because it is so shitty to play. Games are supposed to be fun and when it feels like ass then whats the point

Are autistics attempting to bring some of the rom hacks to the Pc port?
After playing at 60fps, widescreen and with full camera control its kinda hard to go back

>all these retards thinking that this is a screenshot from the actual Mario 64

2/10 troll, Mario 64: 9.5/10 game. Seethe harder.

>extremely dated mechanics
no shit, it came out 20 years ago you fucking zoomer

That's not an excuse.

The flying controls are absolutely putrid. How people call this a perfectly controlled video game is beyond me.

The only thing that bothered me about the controls is when you're trying to do a 180 degree turn, and if you don't push the analog stick absolutely perfectly, mario will rotate like a fucking semi truck and run off the edge of whatever platform your on

Playing odyssey the first time i thought it was almost better than 64 but some of the post game content felt weak so i didn't think it was. After replaying 64 i now know odyssey is so much better just because of the movement options and camera. I'm afraid to play sunshine because I remember 15 year old me thinking it's camera was a downgrade from 64

Why does everyone let SM64 get away with it and claim, inconceivably, that it has good controls, but then complain about Sonic Adventure and say it's too dated
SA controls damn near fucking perfectly
Why is it allowed that SM64 is considered a 9/10 game and SA a 5/10 game

nice try snoy pony

he's a big guy

>discussing a 1996 game in 2020

Colour me surprised.

Imagine wanting to play this scrappy Mario game instead of AAA action available on playstation. Nintentards are delusional. Enjoy the same games for 60 bucks with no new content

I can't even tell if you're serious or not. That's just how shit was 20 years ago.

>zoomers will never know the feeling of amazement and euphoria upon playing Mario 64 for the first time in 1996
You fuckers have no idea exactly how revolutionary this game was at the time. It blew the entire industry the fuck out of the water and it took them years to catch up. It was so good, you were shocked that the experience could be had on a $199 console. It was space-age technology.

>ok boomer

Only bad thing about 64 is the terrible fucking camera. Thankfully the pc port fixed the camera.

I would rather play crash bandicoot.

Mario 64 has more gameplay than your movie games user

They opted for the zoomer filter. Good for them.

my only complaint with the game is that i find it annoying i need to restart the level for each star but i guess its ok because the level changes a little as you progress.

Greatest 3d platformer of all time.

I played through Star Road before and did not like it, the camera was way more inconvenient than in the original, with it constantly getting stuck behind walls. The pacing also felt off to me.

Nah, too linear

This game is dogshit. Always has been. Facts are that ocarina>>>>>>Mario 64

That's what all the poor blacks said. Bandicoot and Madden.

facts

The worst part about Mario 64 is the level design. It's like something designed by an 8 year old with spare lego parts, nothing makes sense they just put a random slope somewhere for the fuck of it, a weird platform elevator here a pointless platform here. None of it makes any fucking sense.
