Hey guys, I figured this might be kind of important to share after the discovery we made on the initial Steam thread.
Essentially we have discovered, that Duoyi Interactive, a company that claims to be based out of Hong Kong, but are in fact based in Mainland China, have recently applied an anti-cheat to their Co-Op shooter, "Gunfire Reborn". I find this MASSIVELY concerning, as it not only has colonel access, but it actively sends data to a NON RESOLVABLE IP, even when OFFLINE. I will be posting the rest of the screencaps in this thread. If this company is actively installing spyware as an anti-cheat ON STEAM, who else could be? I believe we need to bring this to Valve's attention somehow, and have this issue resolved immediately.

Generally speaking, yes. Kernel access just means a program can autonomously execute CPU instruction and reference any memory address. Also most nearly ALL anti-cheat also function as DRM and they all require kernel access, notable examples being Denuvo, Blizzard Anti-cheat, BattlEye, etc.
