I've done some coding here and there in high school and a bit when I was attending university (which I quit). I'm not completely new to it, but I need to learn a bunch of shit. I plan to work on small projects in the meantime.

Just put up a kickstarter with only the logo and wait for the $$$

I don't want to ask for money for the project until I'm absolutely sure I'm capable of finishing it.

It's gonna be quite the venture you're going into OP. Have you got the grit and time to fully develop it, or will it fall to the sands of time like many projects?

The decision is up to you. Make a roadmap and plan it out just so you have a general idea. There's tons of resources out there to aid you in your journey.

And for the love of God don't program in Java or Python.

It's how I plan to spend a lot of my spare time from now on. I work a part time job that's getting lower on hours these days. I don't plan to program in python or java. I'm looking at Godot as the engine I'm thinking of using.

Godspeed, we'll be rooting for you user

Thanks!

good luck with your project, man.

sure thing.
tell him that the guy that created and directed dead space is a painter, and besides being the "ideas guy", he did the concept art of the game, and got the money, sponsoring and code monkeys to get shit done.

Thanks, I'll do my best! I want to make the best game I possibly can.

Didn't actually know that. Never played much dead space though

Whats the genre?

looks like another game with
>12 user reviews (mixed)

didnt ea make dead space

i can code in the libgdx engine tell me more about your game maybe i'll join if its not garbage

The basic vision for the game is to be a vampire RPG with PS1 style visuals that takes a bit of inspiration from VTMB. It will stand on its own though and won't be a complete clone. It will take around 7-10 hours to complete one playthrough, but emphasis is on replayability. There will be a day and night cycle which will have narrative and gameplay consequences.

There's a reason why I stated that it's the prototype logo. I want the finished one to be more polished, since I only cooked this one up in a couple of hours. It will be the one that will represent the project for now, but it will eventually change.

Sry bud I just filed a copyright for the name

>not 2d
>not roguelite
>not pixelshit
ur done kid

Haha, guess I am

it will suck

Maybe it will, but I'll try my best to make it not suck. I plan to release a free demo to the public to get some feedback at some point.

>no coding experience
>probably no 3d experience
>first project is a full 3d, 8 hour long action rpg with branching narrative.
lol good luck kid.

I plan to do a shit ton of smaller projects first to get my skills up to a point where I'm comfortable. So technically this won't be my first project and it isn't even my first project. I made some really shitty games back in high school, but I was using Java because that's what they taught us. Obviously I don't plan to use Java.

i just trademarked Bloody Beast of The North, i can't wait to shit out a mobile game ripoff with the title

keks

Lol, you're full of shit, but if I have to change the name of the game so be it

Not gonna lie user, it doesn't look that great.
What engine are you using? For my game, I had to write one and it's making me suicidal.

I plan on seeing what I can do with Godot for now.

Never used Godot, I heard it's a meme

Have any suggestions?
