It's too fucking boring. She's not even an interesting characters. The gameplay is just too bland for me and the sidequests are shit. I really went into it wanting to like it too.

Why people though that zero dawn would get any awards beside maybe technical? It had one of the shittiest writings ever and gameplay is absolutely meh.

How did it do open world "right"? Its all the same goddamn shit. Shrines are just enemy bases, the towers are just the lookout mapping points, the world is a mile wide and an inch deep. Outside of the physics its just the same things you see and do in any other open world game.

Too grindy

It's the first non sandbox open world game that actually makes use of its open world. Games like the witcher 3 are, compared to botw, linear games in an open world map. In Botw you have the absolute freedom to do anything you want in your way while other 'open world' games force you in a linear direction to progress further in the game. Travelling around in botw is not about reaching your destination but more rather the journey itself. The game surprises you all the time, botw did something that no other open world game has ever done: getting the open world formula right

This is purely subjective, obviously. Funny thing is, a year or two I would have disagreed with you, but I've reached my limit of hand holding, disjointed, single player games padded out to ad nauseum masquerading as "open world". They literally just took the mmo concept, and somehow managed to make it even less fun by adding in forced exploring with all these current day open world games. I'd rather just be in a sandbox now and let me do whatever the fuck I want. Last open world I could stomach was death stranding, for the same reasons as boys, cept that games story is retarded and has to be ignored.
