Sonic 2 is outdated and grossly overrated

Sonic 1 is fairly hard and short and perfectly fine for an adventure game, back when sonic wasn't just for going fast. Sonic CD uses the physics engine in an interesting way and although it is a long game, it has lots of content and gimmicks to keep the stages interesting and lively.

But here, the enemies are very annoying and there's too many of them, the stages are mostly hallways with occasional ledges and springs. Not to mention the glitches and trial and error traps, which actually cost you a life everytime. I didn't have problem with jankness even in Sonic Adventure.

It's so annoying, should I just skip to 3K already?

games do not age

better understand the game and don't run fullspeed yet if you don't have good reactions
falling monitors can also crush you in sonic3, but not s&k

up to you, but play this if you play s3/k

Then it is shoddy and annoying. Plain and simple.

Coming from Sonic 1 and CD, I don't really go for the speed meme in 2, my problem is mostly how there's so many traps and glitches in this game that actually matter. And the first boss in death egg sucked all the fun I was having at the game up to that point. I might as well give up and quicksave this already.

Sonic CD isn't very good. I'm not sure if you're aware of that.

you just seem impatient
as a child i beat silver sonic in seconds. not going yolo can apply to bosses too

There are a lot of dangerous pits starting with stage 2, you gotta be careful

you got filtered by sonic 2

Had more fun than either Sonic 1 and especially Sonic 2. Sonic Adventure and Sonic CD are my favorite games in the franchise. They're just much more rich in content.

It's only not good if you're a speeding idiot. And the stages and OST are gorgeous as well.

That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing

if you're actually at sky fortress zone then you're not far off from beating the game, in which case might as well just finish it pussy. you shouldnt have only 2 lives, if you're rushing through the game then it shouldn't have taken you that long to get to sky fortress in the first place. It's not a long game.

You can beat him in seconds if you know what to do
If you dont know you can hurt him outside of that time whe. He does that skaty thing across the floor then you dont have a choice

I had 13 fucking lives and 3 continues and it all melted away because the boss's spikes are much impossible to dodge. Now, I'm just gonna try getting it to go before that impossible move takes off, I guess.

well everyone finds a random snag in these retro platformers. just skip it if you cbf it's just a videogame anyway

Yea, the magic of this game has really worn out to me. If I was a kid, I'd have liked it better. And Sonic CD is better altogether anyway.

real talk, silver is still a joke boss
the last boss vs knuckles is still crazy though

How do you dodge the spikes attack he makes later on though? If it wasn't for that, the boss would've been fine.

I tried several things and nothing works.

That level made me rage a lot as a kid. Between this, the FUCKING BARREL in 3 and Labyrinth zone these games ar epretty lame, yes.

the spike attack only hits directly in the middle and a bit left/right of that. you can stand left/right directly in the middle and be safe or even be fullscreen away and small jump over him. but generally if you get to the spike attack you're way over time. i wish he was a better boss

and the final boss is bullshit too LMAO

I guess that's why it was choosen for generations, this is completely unfun and just made to make the game hardcore at the last second.

If I have one major complaint about Sonic CD, it's that the reward for collecting all time stones is despawning all enemies for the remainder of the game.
That's due to getting guaranteed good futures for all remaining acts sure.

>And Sonic CD is better altogether anyway.
based

Old classic games are flawed but are still good. I feel like there are many autistic zoomers that try to find "objective" flaws and just shit on classic games out of pure contrarianism and arrogance. Its a product of its time, we didnt throw a tantrum if there was a little bit of unfairness here and there, we just learned those through trial on errors. Its not like the whole game is like that.

I think that's kind of sweet and makes collecting rings a hell a lot easier. Defaulting to the good futures for the remainer of the game is pretty good too. And you'd have to have beaten the game once to get the time stones anyway because they're pretty goddamn hard. I don't know why you're complaining about that.

Sonic 2 also has somehow worse special stages than Sonic 1 and CD. You're never going to get the emeralds at first try. You have to memorize them all.

Yes, even though I really like Sonic CD, I'd be wrong to say it is not flawed. Like having Past signs hidden behind walls and that one Generator in Wacky Workbench. Sonic 1 is the closest to complete polish oddly enough in my opinion. They're all fun rides when you get them.

Sonic 2 is clearly a product of time and even though I don't have fun in it, it has a lot of things that were likely huge back then. The cartoon was clearly based with it in mind all the way for instance.

I replayed Sonic 2 recently, and yeah the game does fall apart in the later stages. S3&K doesn't fall apart nearly as bad.

the 2013 port is much better apparently, I wonder if Wing Fortress is fixed there too

Dude just spin dash in place under him before he comes down you can get 4 free hits this way

>Sonic CD uses the physics engine in an interesting way and although it is a long game, it has lots of content and gimmicks to keep the stages interesting and lively.

For the last boss stay behind him and jump over his jetpack fire as that has a hurtbox or hit his ass with some momemtum, its a bit hard but thats the fast way
The slow way you just learn his extremely easy pattern of go up go down, fires arms then you get a hit in, he has 12 health so it takes forever this way but its very very easy
