Ellie kills abby

>ellie kills abby
>realizes that it was a waste of time and effort and cost her everything even though she got what she's been wanting for days
how does ellie killing abby not directly make the story better? what does letting her live do? if they wanted to say "revenge bad" they should've actually let her get revenge to realize that

Its called bad writing
Also KYS if you bought this "movie"

She comes to exactly that realization while she is drowning her, though.

Up to that point, Ellie murdered 100s of people just to get to Abby, lots that had nothing to do with Abby. Even if she felt bad about it, she should have killed Abby out of principle.

"i've won... but at what cost" is better than "welp i may as well give up on doing this thing i've been trying to do for days now at the last second because i won't be as fulfilled"

EXPECTATIONS
SUBVERTED

Eh, I feel like what they did would have been ok or even great if they had the balls to follow it up with Ellie killing herself at the house.

But they didn't.

>stay home
>abby dies anyway
Fucking retarded

Meh. Ellie finding Abby already dead would have been better. She would have lose everything because of vengeance, even the vengeance itself. Here she kills a lot of people, but not Abby because killing is bad now. Would have been funny to play the trip back home and kill another 1000 people just after that.

She saved her so abby can be the mc in last of us 3

>scene thats like 5 minutes long of ellie stepping into a noose and suffocating to death
the sheer amount of seething from the fanbase would've been great, but her walking into the woods leaves some interpretation
for all we know she could have a happy ending where she goes back to dina and apologizes

I wouldn't mind her not killing her if they sold the reason for it better. It makes sense that threatening to kill some kid so you can drown a half-dead slave in some shallow water might hit you with a sudden sense of "what the fuck am I even doing this for" but it hits a bit flat when there isn't really any drama in the story specifically building that choice up. I think they did a pretty good job with abby's character, but as far as ellie knows she's just that cunt that killed her adopted father, her wife's babydaddy, and crippled her uncle before slapping the shit out of her. Unless I'm majorly forgetting something it felt like the game was building up to that scene the entire game and just straight forgot to include the bit where the hesitation/regret/whatever really takes root in her.

i think every time ellie/abby is spared its dumb
>im killing joel right in front of you but instead of killing you i'll just make you bitter and want revenge forever
>you killed my friends so im killing you and your pregnant gf except i'll spare you once again and just hope you're still not as vengeful
>revenge isn't too appealing anymore so despite you ruining my life i won't hold you under water for a few more seconds

>how does ellie killing abby not directly make the story better?
how can it make it better when you yourself establish that the realization that it does not matter is the outcome?
and the end is really the last part you should put your eraser to improve the story, seeing as there is so much before that in need of improvement that would necessitate the ending to change.

>if they sold the reason for it better.
the one theme running throught most of the problems with the game.

The best way to do it would have been killing Abby in normal gameplay with no special fanfare or anything, she's just dead and after that the player has no new objectives, just a few minutes to sit there and think.

Removing Neil Druckmann from the start would've made the game 6000000% better

Did anyone else still kinda think of ellie as a 14 year old in 2? Sometimes I'd forget and think wait why'd they show her having sex

would get the game get even more hate if abby was fat instead of buff?
>when ellie walks in on abby beating joel to death she's out of breath from swinging
>along with the brilliant graphics and animations, abby has incredibly detailed jiggle physics as she runs
>the rope breaks when the scars try to hang her
>after being tied to the pillar for days she's moderate weight but still a bit chubby

It would have been a much better ending if during this fight Abby convinced Ellie to come with her to the new fireflies, and have a second chance at making a cure. It would have completed both character's arcs perfectly.

>second chance at making a cure
i think at this point everyone has accepted thats out of the questions. even if they somehow made a cure for a fungal infection humanity is just too fucked to distribute it to everyone and have society recover

jewish projection isn't supposed to make logical sense. dont kill the jew that's ruining western civilization as he gaslights your race into demographic suicide.

But then we can't have le epic MGS fist fight at the end

>scenes men will never understand

Such a childish mind you have

>how does ellie killing abby not directly make the story better? what does letting her live do?
It shows that Ellie has finally grown as a person and found the strength to move past her insatiable thirst for vengeance. It's a substantially more interesting ending than the one you propose.

Why do the fireflies even exist then?

You are right about that one, though I am not convinced any human could understand it.

I don't get it either films do that kind of thing or the time but video game revenge stuff always pussies out at the last minute.

Doesn't even make sense because just 5 minutes before that scene you were happily murdering hundreds of people including in cutscenes.

I hated the story but really enjoyed this game as murder simulator.

I went after every man woman dog etc on every single level I enjoyed their screams I enjoying getting the zombies to kill them and when they yelled for their comrades I got horny killing them and laughed every time.

Threads like these are exactly why nobody tries to do anything more complex than a Sonic the Hedgehog story in video games, where everybody has big expressive eyes and announces all of their feelings at all times. 100% concentrated brainlet

But TLOU2's plot is brutally simple, aside from poorly written.

jesus christ, read a fucking book for once in your life

The answer is simple anons
Abby is the main character for Tlou3, can't go killing the main character of your series too fast now can we

Feels like you wrote out your fetish list to be fair

>daily shit on TLOU2 thread
Well deserved for the amount of money they wasted

Sequel/DLC

>if you kill your enemies who are trying to kill you, then you lose
Based retards at Naughty Dog

Reminder that life was easily sustainable by TLOU2, rendering the efforts of the Fireflys indefensible, the killing of Abby's father justified, and her revenge on Joel a moral wrong
