Did I grow out of pokemon or is it just so bad?

Did I grow out of pokemon or is it just so bad?
It's so handholdy. fucking 30k cash before I even get to the first town, 25 pokeballs, your rival picks the type disadvantage and I've been healed like 5 times outside pokemon centers already.
Does GF really want pokemon to become baby's first rpg??

Game died after BW2. Just play romhacks or spinoffs like mystery dungeon DX.

Mainlinefags be like, "why does this game made for 3 years olds feel like it's made for 3 years olds?"

Play PMD, it's the natural evolution of Pokémon.

They cater to literal retards now. Same with LoL or any other mainstream game. If the most casual of casuals can't play their game and feel good/beat it without breaking a sweat, it won't thrive in the market.

How are any of those bad things? You're really just complaining because they're making things more fun. Do you REALLY want to walk all the way back to the pokemon center every time you need to heal or recharge pp?

It's just a bad game.
I tried playing it recently. I dropped it at the psychic gym because the thought of having to go back and play it was just kind of unpleasant. It's all so dull. Even enjoyed LGPE more than this.

That's what killed the game for me. You are healed before and after caves and hop picks the Pokemon your starter os strong against. I'll just stick to playing the old titles on emulators until i die

>muh sekretclub

Every concern about the normie was literally and unironically true.

>fucking 30k cash before I even get to the first town

Christ, I wish getting money in real life was as easy as in SWSH. In between all the shit just lying on the ground and what you can get from Max Raid, you'll be loaded in no time. I got up to like 1.7 million dollars (and that's AFTER spending a bunch of money on balls and potions), which has never happened to me in a Pokemon game.

It's just bad. the fact Nexomon: Extinction is an actual contender should tell you. To list a few things N:E Has on PokeSwooSh:
- Multiple save slots.
- A complete, collectible dex on its own.
- A true open-world that connects to itself and only stops you at certain points for plot.
- A story that doesn't hold your hand the entire fucking time.
- Actual challenge.

What it doesn't have (right now):
- Multiplayer and trading

Which is already being touched on in a large, FREE update.

It's designed for the Uber-retards who want to cakewalk through the game and the hardcore players who just want to get past the story so they can start meta-gaming a competitive team.

>Did I grow out of pokemon or is it just so bad?
both

Game is great but game freak are never gonna make the games anything more complicated than basic motor functions to beat, and they won't even give us robust post game content to provide any depth or challenge.

Yet there's no reason why it couldn't be more engaging, especially coming from a Japanese franchise which has Dragon Quest as a contemporary, which is the most babies first RPG for casual normies as it gets and even that series is more complicated and challenging than Pokemon

I thought the same when i started getting into X/Y but then i went back to Platinum and no, the games are just getting worse.

play the old ones retard

play this and enjoy

There is no real point in playing anything released after BW2, its not even that the games are too easy (although thats a part of the problem), its they’re poorly designed, unbalanced messes with nothing to hold the players attention for longer. If it wasnt for competitive I wouldnt have picked up Sword at all.

Pokémon has never been difficult and has always been a baby tier RPG

game sucks after b2/w2, but Sun and Moon was based.

Even hardcore fags would want some substantial postgame and battle facilities. This has nothing but an extremely watered-down Battle Tower and an empty field with shit tier textures and sub 10 fps.

are there any decent ROM-hacks out there? preferably ones without autistic writing and self inserts. I just want to catch pokemon and beat gyms.

Attached: 37b.png (1100x1142, 470.97K)

Isn't that a furry self-insert game?

dropped sun/moon for this same reason, its just so fucking dull to play through when my pokemon instantly demolish everything the game throws at me, not much point in buying these mainline entries anymore unless you have a toddler you need keep busy with something

It is if you're a furry
Otherwise it's just a good game

Yes. They changed the map to a more linear one starting gen 5 because retards got lost in the mountains or some shit. They've only been increasingly dumbed down since then

You grew out of Pokémon. It has never been anything other than babies first rpg.

Yes you grew out of Pokemon since Pokemon has always been and will always be "my first JRPG"

I remeber Light Platinum being quite good, but I haven't played it in almost a decade.

That's because LGPE at it's core were based on when the games were still good. They had a map with actual secrets and the ability to tackle some gyms out of order. SWSH has a "bigger" world but it feels more shallow than a fucking game boy game.
Super rail-roaded and there are towns that exist purely to house a gym and no other reason. Nothing optional.

It's not just you, the games aren't getting THAT much worse, but it's a fact that actual game substance has slowly been leaking from the mainline releases ever since Gen 6, and the games aren't actually gaining anything to compensate. It's been three generations now that gamefreak has been making the same excuses, while releasing sub-indie quality games.
GF directors have gone on record saying that they think their games are competing with phone games. I think they've given up.

Same exact feeling I had playing B/W. Every town it was impossible to progress unless you sat through several cutscenes plus hamfisted roadblocks until you beat the evil team and the gym. I called it quits before 6th badge. Previous games the map opened up a bit at the 3rd badge or so

Hardcore fags have never liked battle facilities, they are exclusively for mediumcore players terrified of fighting real players. People actually good see it for what it is,an RNG tard fest of exploiting the game's AI.
