>Try-hard "builds" that have no real theme and are simply designed to be as good as possible in every situation
or
>RP/themed builds that will be player-restricted in ways to match a character/role, possibly creating willing weaknesses

I like to make my build do the most damage it can.

theme builds usually. I had fun with the falchion and darkmoon blade miracle though.

yeah yeah, me want hit big hard. me level dex!

Usually a 50/50 split. Commit to a theme or a concept, then make the strongest build I can in those parameters. Unless it’s a first play through, then I’m almost always /qual just to check out as many weapons as I can

I prefer what I did on my first run in dark souls 3

I went for a dex/int build that allowed me to do almost any playstyle I want while still not being super common. I can use the following effectively in pvp and pve (ng5+ currently on soul level 124)

Any dex weapon I can put a sharp gem on and give it crystal infusion for huge damage.
A greatsword with the greatsword of judgement or MLG.
I can use a scythe (friede's scythe).
I can use a dagger (aquamarine dagger).
I can use the crescent moon sword.
My favourite is the immolation tinder. It is a catalyst that doubles as a halberd. I kill people all the time in pvp because it's not a common weapon. I'll shoot a soul spear and people will roll through it, expecting to attack instantly. But I will immediately hit them with the halberd instead. It also has the third longest reach in the game, often catching people off guard. You can also equip scholar's candlestick in the offhand for the 10% extra damage. This is nicely coupled with an aquamarine dagger as secondary.

All in all, the gist of the build is that I never feel limited into one category, yet there's always a distinct theme.

xD bro you're so subtle

For DaS1, I would make tryhard builds at first.
But then I realized PvP is complete shit, and made various themed builds for summoned coop. So i'd come in as cool archer guy and and show off my archery build. Or a silver knight or something. All twinked out and optimized of course.

DaS3 is trash of course, so it's no fun playing builds in that game.

try hard for invading with focus on twink builds, whatever is fun for pve

The retard build in all souls games is actually greatsword STR.

Its usually fashion souls and halberd for me... Well, i always roll halberd.
Where my halberd bois at

I always do a few runs on different builds based on the stats they main to try out all the weapons and spells in the games. Only after I'm finished with the standard ones do I play with theme/meme builds

I don't really know how to do the second one in DS so I always do the first option

im afraid demon souls isnt a good game.

Or any STR build. Unga bunga smash is fun.

Though DS3 pretty much entirely restricts STR builds to overhead smash attacks.

I also dressed him up as a KKK grand wizard when I discovered the immolation tinder as a weapon. The name of the character is NiggerHunter.

if I'm going to be pvping a lot I try to go for themed builds because over time its more fun to adapt and play in a unique way than just leaning on the most OP shit for easy kills over and over, its not like there is really any point to getting kills so you may as well have fun and make a memorable encounter for whoever you're invading

Better to pick a theme that doesn't hold you back for no reason.

I love halberd irl, one of my favorite weapons, but Jesus Christ i hate the moveset they gave it in souls games

Why the fuck would I not do both? The process of getting the build running is the most fun for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone. After I get it geared and up to level and fuck around with pvp/ng+ for a bit I move on to the next one. They're not even that mutually exclusive. Is there any particular reason my faithful strong boy with a giant mace in his hands and lightning in his heart wouldn't carry around a short sword to mix-up niggers who insist on nothing but rolling?

>Pick weapon that I like
>Use it

I just grab a greatsword and pretend to be Guts, works out pretty well most of the time

Themed build or uninstall, Souls are my favorite games simply because of the sheer amount of different shit, cool and whacky, you can use

>>RP/themed builds that will be player-restricted in ways to match a character/role, possibly creating willing weaknesses
Always these. I have 24 characters so far and i'm still looking forward to create my next one.

I just put points into STR until I start dying in one hit then I get some health

I usually just pick a weapon to do a playthrough and do nothing but level endurance and the damage stats for that weapon. In dark souls 1 every time I play through the game I do it like that but I also wear no armor and use the ninja flip ring with base health. It makes for a fun playthrough every time.

I find it much more fun when I encounter a themed build. The standard try-hard builds have became so stale and tiresome.

>one of the inescapable combo/big damage weapons as a main weapon - splitleaf greatsword, Gaels great sword or gundyrs l2 spam,
>"chase down" weapon such as pronged plow because of its insane running r1 range, or the ringed knight spear
>tears of denial
>throw in some offhand crossbow cancer with a lothric knight straightsword

It's always the same shit

First playthrough I lean towards the optimal builds. Then in subsequent plays I choose weapons, armor, magic, for a thematic purpose, but I don't give the character a backstory or anything. Souls games may be called rpgs but I don't feel they really lend themselves to role play

in DS games, first playthrough ends up beign tryhard rest of the playthroughs I built around unique or interesting weapons, not rp

i pick a weapon i like then pieces of sets that go well together

you're too young, you need to get off Zig Forums. Remember, it's not to late to have sex.

>try hard "builds"
hm I wonder how OP feels about people playing the game the way it was meant to be played
>nah bro you gotta artificially restrict yourself so a made up character in your autism fantasy is more accurate
people can decide what is fun for themselves

baaaaaaaaaaaaaased

Ds3 is cancer, especially for PvP
I miss Ds2 PvP at its prime

Seems I touched some nerves here. The names of my other characters are as follows:
VigorNigger
Holocaust?
WhiteLivesMatter

for me it's the standard mace which you can acquire at the beginning of the game

good job validating him you utter fucking retards

It's all so tiresome.

Based and damaged

I think you're based user, don't worry about those guys, they're just cringe

I stopped playing a while before they removed family sharing
did they change anything with their ban detection or can I still spawn in items?
The only way for me to play is to make cosplay builds.
I stopped playing once I finished cosplaying everything I could in the game but I kinda want to get back into it again.

The most fun I had with souls is going around in DS2 in a dress and smelter demon hat slashing around with a katana. I usually just take whatever looks nice but doesn't make me fatroll

how was he validated
wat

based based cringe cringe based based
fucking zoomers holy shit kys

>big 2h STR weapon
>pump it
>fashion armor but no fat roll
>roll through shit and hit big swings

honestly the kkk cosplay is a bit funny but the name is some 2010 Zig Forums cringe shit

people name their characters like that to get reactions
you gave him reactions
it's really fucking simple
