Games are more complex now but the demand to release a follow up every 2-3 years has remained the same.

After the relatively poor reception of Fallout 4 compared to Skyrim both sales wise and critically. Bethesda Games Studio probably recognized that it couldn't rest on its laurels and expect the Bethesda open world to rake in those 90+ scores effortlessly and would need to go back to the drawing board.

On the other hand, nine years of extra work on a game, yet it remains the same buggy mess.

I won't: The last beth's game i bought was Oblivion, the last beth's game i pirated was New Vegas. Fallout never should have gone 3D.

Skyrim removed attributes, and we haven't had fun magic since morrowind.
If i want to play a first person rpg, i'll go play morrowind or daggerfall, not skyrim, which i don't even consider a rpg.

It's almost like they picked up a new IP and started churning other games out.

Also remember that FO4 came out JUST as Witcher 3 was raking in hundreds of awards for writing and world building, and the game showed Bethesda for the hacks they are. They are the copy paste kings.
